Paul George's performance would have landed him second or third place any other year. Felt like he should have won. People voted for Evans based on his one dunk, should be based on all three as a whole. Just another reason why fan voting is a bad idea. Can't rely on the public to remain impartial.
I"m a Timberwolves fan and Derrick Williams' stunk it up except for his second dunk attempt.
George had the best overall night from start to finish. He didn't land his first or third dunk in the amount of time he wanted to, i'm sure. But those were also two of the more difficut dunk attempts of the night. He landed a 360 windmill in the dark on his first try.
Comparison:
Jeremy Evans dunk 1 - Nothing special, just held onto the rim forever
Jeremy Evans dunk 2 - Excellent dunk, very difficult
Jeremy Evans dunk 3 - Entertainment, but feel like 80% of the guys in the league could jump over Kevin Hart
Paul George dunk 1 - Unbelievably hard, tried to get an alley oop, and dunk over 7'2 hibbert, still ended up jumping over Hibbert wtihout the alley
Paul George dunk 2 - Difficult, good show and creative, something that hasn't been done before
Paul George dunk 3 - Very very hard, took him forever to do it. But eventually got it done.
Evans' first and third dunks are things that any of the other contenstants could do. I don't think anyone in this dunk contest could have pulled off George's first or last dunks and nobody had anything more creative than his second attempt.
