j smoove already won it and wasn't any better than george in his 2nd appearance.

iggy ok.

griffin, he wasn't anything special last year.

rose...no comment.

newflash: being a good player doesn't make you a superior dunker as well.

Well you can replace J Smoove with whoever for all i care, i just want all the players to be well known dunkers.

Im sure Griffin has plenty of things he can still do and combine that with Iggy + Rose and you have a pretty good dunk contest in the making imo.

Sounds like you wouldn't be impressed if it was prime VC, MJ, or Dominique.

What they should do is have like eight contestents and set it up like this (assuming higher seed wins):

Friday night:

random seeding

1 vs. 8
2 vs. 7
3 vs. 6
4 vs. 5

one dunk each. Traditional panel votes who wins that round.

1 vs. 4
2 vs. 3

two dunks each. fans vote

Saturday night:

1 vs. 2

Four dunks each. A selected group of current NBA players (thinking 15-20) vote. Participating group can not include teammates, ex-teammates, workout partners or family members. League has the entire day to put together the voting panel. Would be obscure group of current players. Let's say it were Evans and Paul George this year. You could have like Troy Murphy, Ben Wallace, Luke Ridnour all voting. Guys with literally no connection, but are a part of the league.

Would give the guys something to work for and be more of a "dunking championship"

Best dunks of the night:
1. Evans' double ball
2. George's Larry Bird dunk
3. Williams' second (side backboard)

Worst dunk of all time
1. Camera dunk

I once again submit my plan to have the dunk contest held in a "session" like they do with the X-games.

Have 2 groups of 4-5 players each. Each session will be 10-15 minutes. The dunk session works by having the first guy attempt a dunk, and immediately after, the 2nd guy goes, and then the 3rd, and 4th, etc. After the last guy in the heat goes, the first guy goes again. Each dunk is scored right after the dunk.

This will remove gimmicks and theatrics. If people want a prop, it should be something they can setup in less than 15 seconds, so maybe give each player a 30 second time limit for each individual dunk attempt.

This type of dunk contest would be f*cking awesome to watch.

At least the dunk contest matched the concert in terms of quality.

Nope. Paul George should've done his reverse 360 windmill WITH THE LIGHTS ON, his reverse 360 between the legs, and his reverse double clutch from Friday night. It woulda been an easy win, but he tried to be way too gimmicky.

Wow, I just watched that **** on DVR. Luckily I didn't have to suffer through it live.

Absolutely horrible dunk contest.

From Kenny Smith's annoying non-stop talking, the horrible dunks, fan voting, and Cheryl Miller's creepy laugh before announcing the winner...so much wrong with that contest.

Best part was Iguodala holding up the 0.

They should have 6 dunkers in each contest with no gimmicks. That would give a better chance of seeing good dunks. + Some superstars should go in the contest, at least even if they aren't that good they're guys we actually want to see dunk the ball.

Also, the Chase Budinger dunk was obviously fake. Kenny Smith did not make that whole thing up on the spot there, it was planned, and you can see him looking back into the basket on the dunk.

Disagree. No need for the stars to put themselves in harmsway imo. Dunk Contest is stupid. Dunks in general are extremely overated. They are only worth 2 points thats it.

Evans' first dunk was awful, but honestly, he should have pulled up and tried it again. He just f'd up by going through with a dunk where his initial throw to himself was not good.

But as someone totally biased his second dunk was spectacular and the best of the night.

I do agree that George hurt himself with the lights out dunk as nobody could see it. Thought it was pretty good.

I also agree that even though I was happy to see Evans win it was a pretty lackluster dunk competition.
