Pacers Rotation
With George Hill returning and the recent good play of A.J. Price, there has been some talk about the Pacers rotation.
Here is my 2 cents.
Hill is a SG trapped in a PG's body. He is a very good player and it is tough to keep him off the court, but where do you play him? Here's what I would consider doing when everyone is healthy.
Starting PF: West (30-31 mpg) 26 mpg at PF and 4-5 at Center.
Backup PF: Hansbrough (22 mpg)
Starting Center: Hibbert (30-31 mpg)
Backup Center: Foster (12-14 mpg)
Starting SF: Granger (34 mpg)
Backup SF: Paul George (see SG)
Starting SG: Paul George (32 mpg) 18 mpg at SG and 14 mpg at SF
Backup SG: George Hill (30 mpg)
Starting PG: Collison (33 mpg)
Backup PG: Price (15 mpg)
This is a 9 man rotation. If Price starts playing poorly, Hill or Stephenson can get minutes at PG. If Hill struggles against some of the bigger SG's, Jones or Stephenson can step in or Jones could play SF and rotate George back to SF.

Re: Pacers Rotation
I'd rather get Stephenson in there rather than Price. Having Hill be the SG and Lance be the PG while defending opposite is an option. Honestly, I like the rotation as it is as well as Vogel's willingness to stick with a hot hand.

Re: Pacers Rotation
I think they want Lance to get some minutes though and Dahntay is also in the backup 3 rotation. Foster is playing about every other game and Lou gets those minutes when Jeff sits.

Re: Pacers Rotation
When does just putting your best guys on the floor trump finding minutes for a young project? If you are putting your guys out there who give you the best chance to win something along the lines of what is suggested in the op is the way you go. Dantahy becomes a situational sub when his defense is needed and Lance gets mop up time.

I wouldn't call Collison young.

Now we all know you are the resident DC hater, I'm not real fond of him either but you can't just make things up, it's only his 3rd year in the league man, he's 24 years old.

He's in the bottom half of the league when it comes to starting point guards age.
Russell Westbrook, Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday, Derrick Rose, Kyrie Irving, Mike Conley, John Wall, Brandon Jennings, Jeremy Lin, Brandon Knight, DJ Augustin, Stephen Curry, Jeff Teague, Ricky Rubio, and Ty Lawson are all younger and much, much better starting point guards than Collison.

He's not young when compared to the rest of the league's starting point guards. Most of those players aren't even close to their potentials yet. Collison reached his during his junior year at UCLA.
There are two huge differences between those players and Collison.
1. Collison sucks, they don't.
2. Almost all of them will get better, while Collison won't.
I don't see why people keep holding out false hope for him. He's not some player with potential and he's just bad. Believe it or not, I'm not being subjective. People realize he's not good. Why do you think opposing teams always feed his man or double off of him? Because they know he's a liability on both ends of the floor. He passes up wide open shots all the time. The only times he can score are on fastbreaks, when defenders cover West on PnP's, or when Roy finds him on a basket cut. The only assists he really gets are off David West Pick n Pops. He can't pass, create shots, or defend. The three biggest things we need from him.
Sorry for not wearing my homer goggles and seeing that he's probably the worst fit possible for this roster.

Re: Pacers Rotation
I tried putting them back on, but Paul had better dunks on Friday night. He had the best dunk..
But I couldn't see it.

Oh I'm not saying I like him or anything like that. I'm just saying one thing you can't really count against him is age.

Re: Pacers Rotation
I've been watching the NBA for longer than most of you have been alive. maybe more than your parents have been alive. I don't remember a time when there were this many good young point guards. it is a statistical abnormality. Collison is playing very well for 24 even though there is this run of superstar young point guards. I see no reason to bail on him early. not that I wouldn't like a 30 something point guard on the bench to come in when the team needs steadying.
as for his defense, it only seems to be a serious problem when PG covers the 1 and DC needs to defend the 2. yet another reason why an older, bigger point guard would be a good addition, but I see that need as alongside DC, not in place of him.

Collison is the reason PG has to guard the 1.

That's why you can't have Collison as a starter. There are so many players better than him at his position. We don't have a prime Kobe or MJ that can make you a contender with awful point guard. As long as we have Collison we will be considered a team that can't make that jump to the next level. We're a good team, but you can't be great with him at point guard. He's just bad.
