Real good article on the heat

Post#1 » by Moggs24 » Sun Feb 26, 2012 7:06 pm

I don't know if any of you watch the bball breakdown channel on youtube, but it is a real good channel where they break down NBA games.

http://www.bballbreakdown.com/how-to-be ... iami-heat/

This week he did a real good write up on how to beat the Heat. Good article and video breakdown for those who are interested.

I like our defense, but if a team just keeps moving the ball, they can get a wide open 3, and most of the time it's the guy who shoots 3's on their team anyway. I don't think they can fix this just thinking about it. It's just something they will have to weather out...

but I don't like Coach Nick, but I'm shocked he has given them props lol.

And I did notice in our loses, Heat did not post up, especially LeBron.

Then if you do double team, there's Bosh and Wade, or even Mario waiting to get a good shot off.

I know that when they try their hardest to disrupt shots, and then a team makes a 3 or even gets an easy bucket (like Amare just rolling in there), it wears them down.

Someone tell Miller to stick to his man rather than going into the lane. He has been doing this every game and the teams just hit 3's... other than that I have no complaints lol.

Yeah, feel most commentators have been much more positive about the heat this year. For one there a much better team, but it seems like by year 2 people are not hating as much.

Also I think he made a real good pt with miller constantly over helping. That is a real simple fix, but the way we rotate is gonna leave the 3 open b/c the goal is to trap and force turnovers. If they miss we blow them out if they hit it is a game. The one positive I have seen of late is that against both the kings and orl they lit us up from three and we just kept on coming until we blew both teams out. I really see a new found confidence and consistency that use to be the Achilles heal of this team.

you might be surprised.

When I saw the header being "How to beat the Heat" I'm like, what does this fool have to say now?!

but he basically said only the Heat can beat the Heat lol. He is giving huge props.

The Heat in their wins, post up a lot more than their losses. He basically said if they don't get a lot of post-up opportunities, the Heat can be beaten.

Having LeBron in the post is already enough, but Wade is getting there too and has been very good in the post. If you overhelp, it's costly because there's a wide open Chalmers/Miller/ Battier or Wade to cut, or Bosh jumper, or whatever there may be. Teams will have to figure something around that to beat the Heat, especially in a 7 game series.

Or shoot 3's and hope they all go in......

lately, they have been pressing on and trying to make things happen rather than having bail out 3's. Not as often anyway. Wade and LeBron took too many 3's, especially Wade when he isn't a good 3 point shooter in the first place (unless he's SUPER hot), and it would just bail the other team out. Lately they have been trying to create better shots for themselves and everyone else. We're actually keeping leads and the game from getting out of hand late in games... the last 8 games anyway. The Philly game was a good showing of this too.

I don't think Miller is overhelping. He's helping how much he is supposed to help, he's just not as quick/fast/long as Wade/Lebron/Chalmers so he can't get back to his man in time even though he is helping a much smaller area.

On the video Miller gave up two 3s and Lebron gave up two 3s. The difference was Lebron was helping half a court away while Miller was only helping a couple of steps away.

Obviously Miller is not going to become as fast as Lebron so this needs to be accounted for in the scheme, especially when Miller is guarding a great 3pt shooter (like Novak)

Also I never took "coach nick" to be a hater. Some of you guys are just too sensitive.
