Raymond Felton Would Give Los Angeles Lakers Exactly What They Need

By Justin Welton (Featured Columnist)
February 27, 2012

Raymond Felton may not lead the Lakers to the promised land, but he gives them a better opportunity than what they have right now. According to Roland Lazenby, the Lakers have interest in the point guard.

Felton would get the ball out of Bryant’s hands and will spread the love around to others. I’m not suggesting that Bryant shouldn’t average 19, 20 shots per game, but I am saying that adding another player who can make things happen with the ball in his hands is a good thing.

With Felton’s proven ability to score the rock at a decent clip and feed others, the addition would make sense for the Lakers going forward.

Longtime basketball writer Roland Lazenby, who has penned several books on the Lakers, reported via Twitter, “I hear they want both Felton and (Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael) Beasley. That's their goal. But talk is cheap right now. The source is good (though).”

Andrew Bynum
Pau Gasol
Michael Beasley
Kobe Bryant
Raymond Felton

That's a pretty solid squad right there!

Felton or Sessions. Either one I'm fine with.

Hell, if Arenas is fully healthy and ready to go, I'd take him too. Arenas' mind might be back on the game, just don't think he's ready physically yet.

Lakers just need that point guard and their contenders again.

Felton is a "perfect fit" for the Lakers and they did have allot of interest in him when he came out of North Carolina... I woud be more than happy with that acquistion and it will have a big impact... Keep in mid, adding Felton would also increases our bench production, regardless of who starts, given the added depth...

PG: Felton & Blake
SG: KB24 & _______
SF: Barnes & MWP
PF: Gasol & Sheed
C: Bynum & Murhpy

Keep your fingers crossed, as we need some help this year...

I agree... but Sheed won't be coming here unless one of the Lakers bigs (Gasol and/or Bynum) are traded.

what a load of hot garbage.

felton sucks on the half court and his D stinks, and he complains about minutes/starting and he's terribly out shape, and he talks to the media he looked for support with his mommy.

enough said.

Felton is a good pg. don't forget that he was all star caliber in ny last year. He can definitely pass the ball as he even avgd over 6 assists in Charlotte(tough to do). He can hit the 3 and he's not a bad defender. I don't question his conditioning now that he's had half a season and just last year ran up and down Madison square garden. If anyone thinks he's better than arenas u are straight crazy. Sessions is good but I would like the better 3 pt shooter. And Felton has high propensity to steal which would help our nonexistent fast break. His value is also at an all time low. Why not?

that article as written is a classic case of "tell something we don't already know". it would literally apply to any point guard in the NBA not named fisher, blake, or the other rook.

Paul Ebanks ‏ @the_Bowery · Open
@EricPincus I've heard Lowry, Rondo, Sessions, Felton, and Flynn. What's most likely in your view?

Eric Pincus ‏ @EricPincus Close
@the_Bowery hard to say what's most likely - also Mayo in that mix - but all just paths - none clear end result just yet

Interesting twitter conversation I noticed. It looks like Mayo may be on our radar as well?

Felton is interesting because he shouldn't cost a first round pick. He fits the system and he is an expiring. If they can get him for a future 2nd and Morris it's a good move.

what the? how are we going to get Felton and Beasley?! is the TPE enough to absorb both? Sesisons+Beasley is a fail for the TPE but damn if we get Felton, Beasley and Arenas... wow.

Without trading a number of expiring contracts it doesn't look likely. I say get Sessions and maybe Dorell Wright for now.

Mayo would be my plan A but im not sure he can play PG with much consistency.
