Post rep + Some sort of point system?

Post#1 » by StepBack3 » Sun Nov 27, 2011 2:34 am

Just going to throw this out there.

There is no doubt in my mind either one or both of these systems would increase activity / average user browsers / etc but im sure there is some reason it isn't implemented yet.

Ill keep it short;

1) Some sort of point / coin / gold type system so people can have a reason to constantly come back and check up on realgm. With this being a sport website there are hundreds of things that can be bet on that I feel should be taken advantage of. It takes a section of mods willing to mediate transactions with a forum and you are set.

2) Post rep. With the mass range of opinions and thread ideas / exclusive information posted about daily on this forum, having a forum rep to see who actually is a legit source / give thanks / keep users WANTING to post good, informative news will be increased greatly.

Just some ideas.

StepBack3,

Thank you for the suggestions.

I'll take these under advisement for the next time we do board upgrades.

I would second this idea. Having some sort of rep would well, increase a poster's "respect level."

People are "rewarded" for making good, constructive posts by gaining "points..." and well, respect?

It's a little more then that. But that's the point.

Speaking from experience having the ability to gain rep even though it is meaningless it gives you more of an incentive to post relevant topics / replies and gives you more of that "I feel like posting on realgm" feeling knowing everyone's account will be unique.

And considering how much this website is based off opinions / facts and quality posting I don't see why not.

But this thread is old , they don't seem to like the idea. Nice bump though lol.

We will take it under advisement for our next updates.

It has not been ruled out.

Yeah definitely down with that. SO many quality posts that I would like to acknowledge the poster for, in a way other than quoting.

A Like Button is on our radar.

It would cut down on the plus 1 posts.

I talked to our contractor Thursday and were very likely doing a Plus 1 or like button.

A dislike, or thumbs down, button might be useful too, simply to let mods know when it's appropriate to lock up a thread, without having to report it several times.

Example: On the trade board, a trade is made that is obviously one sided, I.E Dwight Howard for a 2nd round pick + filler. Doing the thumbs down on the trade could make it much easier than people saying "NO", and more simpler than always creating a vote of YES or NO on it.

Skaterdude,

I'll take it under advisement. It is something we are considering though but worry that people might abuse the feature.
