Odom to retire??

Post#1 » by EntropyPR » Tue Feb 28, 2012 1:22 am

From the GB poster Archeboro:

https://twitter.com/#!/LD2k

Chris Manning's Tweet.

"Heard Odom's contract could be bought out by the Mavs and he may be done (personal reasons). Hope it's not true. Love Odom."

Damn, I feel bad for the guy. Heard his father is going through health issues recently too

Honestly I don't know who Chris Manning but until I see something a little more official I won't believe it. However, if it is true I know he has sucked this year but it would suck to lose him as a trade piece.

Very good source. He doesn't just make things up.

While he's provided nothing this year, I don't know if buying him out is a great idea. My biggest fear is he gets bought out and goes to one of the la teams.

I want to see Odom gone, but the biggest thing for me is just to make sure we get rid of his $2.4m guarantee next year so it's not eating into our cap space.

He's got no trade value anyway, the guy's been super bad this season and GMs know it. His 2.4 mil would have been bought out anyway. The problem is that we got no back-up for 3-4 spots. Wright will play some PF and Vince will have to sub Marion.
Mahinmi
Wright
Carter (who will have to play at least 30 mpg)
Jet
West
Not good at all.

At least that. I prefer to add cash and someone like Mahinimi for Kaman or maybe Roddy for Nash.

If we can't trade him, I just hope he does not join LA.

As much as Odom has sucked for us this season, i would still rather him be on this team because that just means eventually more Cardinal :-?

vince is going to be ultra worn out going into this stretch..without west and now LO i think its a bit unfair at this stage of his career to be playing 30 minutes plus per night with no rest in 12 days

i think the Hawks would do, Kirk Hinrich's expiring contract for Odom. Hawks can give Odom a chance to be a starter again.

And why exactly do we need another guard?

Paula Pierce plays 34 and is doing fine so far... I think. At least stats-wise.

But I know what you mean.

because their is no center that has an expiring contract.

Now if that's all it takes to add a Kaman or a Nash to this team them I'm all for that.

I think the Mavs will ride it out, in hopes of Odom retiring, and saving them some money since they already wasted a pick on him.
