Marc Andre Gragnani going with Kassian, Alex Sulzer going with Hodgson.

Who now? Guy blocks a lot of shots I hear...
Anyway, I'm happy with Chia. WE GOT BRIAN ROLSTON BACK!!!
He'll do nothing really, probably. But boy is it nice to see him back in black and gold.

Now that's an interesting move. Anyone know why these kids got swapped? I thought Hodgson was really starting to play well...
Hodgson is/will be a legit top-2 center who can put up points, but is stuck behind Sedin and Kesler. Kassian can be a top-6 bruising power forward with tonnes of energy in the Lucic mold. I think its a balancing act for Vancouver and not a terrible move. I think Hodgson is the best player in the deal, but from a roster standpoint it makes sense. They upgraded from Sulzer to Gragnani as well, who can be a Marc-Andre Bergeron type PP/offensive weapon.

Re: The Trade Deadline Thread
Don't like it at all for Vancouver. I think they're letting the "Lucic" factor play too much of a roll in this. If they wanted toughness, go out and trade for a cheap bottom 6 guy for the playoffs. I've always been a huge Hodgson supporter, dating back to his Brampton days. The kid is a future 30-35 goal scorer, and I have no doubt in my mind he'll be Buffalo's future captain.
Gragnani is nothing more than a #6 defenseman. Ask Buffalo fans, they'll tell you how bad he truly is.

Gilbert's garbage and we needed another lock down defender.

Re: The Trade Deadline Thread
Buffalo had a really good day by getting a first for Gaustad (jeeeeeez) and getting Hodgson. Nashville overpaid but is going to be a tough team in the playoffs. I for one have no interest in seeing Rinne for potentially 7 games
Detroit stood pat (except for Quincey, which was fine) and I'm happy. The team is good and we didn't lose any prospects or picks except the first and, lets be honest, we don't make our living on first rounders. Combine that with the large amount of cap space this offseason and we are sitting pretty.

Yeah I am glad we didn't do anything dumb, we don't go after a lot of people anymore come the deadline we do tinker type moves glad we got something for Mike Comidore can't believe a guy on my MSN said the Quincy deal was worse then the Phil Kessel deal I mean they moved 2 first round picks for him and one of them was the #2 overall pick and that guy is a so called Leaf fan.
