There is a misconception, though: Gerald Green is not athletic. He just has great hops, like Joe Alexander. Other than that, he's slow up and down the court, does not have great lateral quickness, and his body control is meh. He can blow out a cupcake candle like a champ, though.

Wow, what kind of scouting report is this? GG is supremely athletic and more than just hops. Are u basing your comments on pre-draft combine stats or something?

Green is one of those guys who will look better next to a stud pg. Nets will be smart if they sign him for a min contract with a team option for a 2nd year.

He's 6'8, and i wouldn't mind his play style as a SF. Did we finally find a running mate to compliment #8? :o

Green's athleticism jumps off at you. We were watching that game and the crowd is pretty much dead (except for when they try to get the crowd roaring by promising tickets to the All-Star events). That is until, Green did one of these dunks.

It was ridiculous how much hops he has. There was one alley he had where the ball was off target and to the side. Me and my friends thought it was going to sail out of bounds for sure, and then Green jumps up and throws it down. Freakin sick.

I don't remember how many times the crowd went "OOOH" and "AAAAAH".

His ball handling is still suspect though. Really wasn't able to take the DLeague all stars off the dribble much, if at all. But he gets a running lane and look out.

He's very much a spot up shooter/fastbreak finisher with no intermediate game from what I saw at the all-star game.

Funny, we were watching the game and several of the people around me were screaming "Why aren't you in the NBA?!?". I turned to one of my friends and said "Green has more talent than anyone the Nets have played at SF this season".

I don't think that's an unfair statement at all. But eventually, you hope the BBall IQ catches up to the athleticism. Hopefully, it happens here.

Hope this team can find another diamond in the rough, just like they did with Gaines last year (don't care what anyone says, Gaines is a fine 9th-10th man).

He's a fine individual off the court and his driving record is spotless."

I may be wrong but wasn't Avery his coach when we had him in Dallas? If yes, that means he may have finally got "it" and Avery gives him his second chance now.

The biggest thing the nets lack is athleticism. And he brings that. All he has to do is run the floor and dunk and he will do fine fitting in. It's on defense that he will have to pick up his game. That's where he is going to be judged.

I'm excited about this guy. I've pondered why a guy this talented been out of the league for only 4 seasons. Yet, you see Kwame Brown is still in the NBA. I really have a good feeling about him. He fits well with Avery (i.e. Athletic, Good Shooter, and Soft). I really want them to sign him in 3 year contract with a team option in the end of the 3rd year. I can see this guy contributing by being an volume scorer being 10th man off the bench.

It's not like any of our wings are shut-down defenders anyway.

Big men are hard to find. That's why Kwame is still in the league.

Why aren't the Nets looking to make Wilson Chandler an offer now? He has until Thursday of this week... are there any sort of limitations there?

If we could snag Chandler and GG works out well and end up picking him up as a reserve for next year, we're all set at SF. Then when Shawne Williams comes back from surgery next year he can float between that spot and PF... or maybe just trade him.

We can't offer him anything more than the minimum.

Toronto, Indiana and Cavs can all offer him more than we can.

No, he really isn't. The dude had a hard time getting by Chinese defenders because he lacks quickness. Are you basing your comments on him jumping or something?

Because we might be going after Dwight Howard and we need maximum amount of cap space to do so? :dontknow:
