That's because there are no British commentators!

As for right now British commentators would be the best thing. I had to watch the match with 2 RUSSIAN WOMEN commentators ON SPORT CHANNEL, despite it seemed they had almost no idea about basketball. I kid you not, if I wasn't cheering for Rytas, I would probably still watch this game for laughter. Pure comedy. But it was my only possibility to watch the game on TV insteed of PC with some seconds delay.

Some of today's highlights. Amazingly, they don't show "the pass"

I tuned in to watch Valanciunas for the first time in quite awhile for the game vs Bennetton and man I was pretty impressed. Val was quite easily the best big on the floor and his post game has really come along- whenever he got the ball in certain spots on the block it looked like an intant two or drawn foul. The thing is the Fiba courts still look so crowded opportunities to isolate seem so rare. So much depends on the guards. If Jonas had the kind of space he will have in the NBA I feel like he would dominate that Eurocup competition.

It's pretty clear that Jonas is not yet close to the player he's going to develop into over time as well. Not bad for a 19 year old. :)

game was fun to watch as well

No, Real and Barca are Euroleague teams - the highest level. This is one level down, but Rytas would be better than some Euroleague teams, just not as good as Real, Barca, CSKA Moscow, Panathanaikos, etc. Those are among the big fish of European basketball and always in Euroleague.

Rytas also plays in the VTB league which does have a couple of Euroleague teams, including CSKA, Asseco Prokom (whom they beat) and Lithuanian arch-rival Zalgiris.

Rytas has a decent chance to make the final four of Eurocup, and a decent chance to qualify for the playoffs in VTB. They have a bit of hope of winning Eurocup, if they have a really good playoff run, but winning VTB would be a major long-shot.

Hhhhmmmm ok.........

A pair of half-Latvian, half-Lithuanian 40-year-old hoops crazy twins, who have been living in Latvia for their whole lives, chose a rather interesting way to show pride in their Lithuanian roots.
Brothers Nauris and Normunds asked Jonas Valanciunas, the 19-year-old rising star from Lithuania, to put his signature on their shoulders and later on went on to make a tattoo out of it and the player kindly agreed.

With proper PG Val would be a nightmare to guard for opposing C.

Make a big splash and trade for one of Rondo or Curry and Val becomes scary.

I record ''the pass'', but quality is horrible.

The thing is - this is one of the plays Rytas team working on in every practise. Jonas does this, 2nd center Samardziski does this. Last week against Lokomotiv he tried to pass team player for fast break just second after rebound and it was intercepted by other team and they scored very imporant 3pointer. Dzikic was out of his mind after this, very angry ant Jonas. These are just few situations, even I don't really know how good/bad of a passer he is, only wanted to say the pass yesterday was a part of the same combination, that you can probably see in every Rytas game.

It looks like Valanciunas is fighting for every spot in the court. :)

His assist to TO rating sucks, thats why people assumes hes a bad passer I guess.

Team might working on that, but you still need skills to pull such a pass. And its not generic play actually, Seibutis suppose to get the ball and use screen, but he back door cuts instead and Jonas founds him there. Great timing.
Sometimes he passes it to early, right away after he gets a rebound, so he has his dumb moments, but his overall passing skills are decent and its definitely not a weakness.

Look at this one

Yeah, it was the same pass as at 1:07, but was too weak (again Loko).

A few nice plays in here from Jonas in Rytas' latest top 10, including a fake and drive from 18ft on the baseline for the dunk.
