Make any sense? MN/NJ/HOU

Post#1 » by [RCG] » Wed Feb 29, 2012 1:57 am

Wolves out: Williams, Beasley, Milicic, Miller, '12 Utah 1st, '13 Memphis 1st
Wolves in: Morrow, Lee, Budinger, Petro, Thabeet, '12 NJ 1st (top-2 protected)

Wolves upgrade their wings, add a high '12 1st while taking back some salary in the meantime.

Rubio/Barea/Ridnour
Morrow/C.Lee/Ellington/M.Lee
Budinger/Johnson/Webster
Love/Randolph/Tolliver
Pekovic/Petro/Thabeet

Nets out: Morrow, Petro, '12 NJ 1st (top-2 protected), '12 Houston 1st
Nets in: Williams, Miller, '12 Utah 1st, '13 Memphis 1st

note: Wolves can take back Farmar if Nets want.

Nets clear additional cap-space for this summer in the hopes of getting Dwight. They'd run with a team of;

Williams/Farmar
Brooks/
James/
Williams
Lopez/(Howard)

Rockets out; Lee, Budinger, Thabeet
Rockets in: Beasley, Milicic, '12 Houston 1st (returned)

Rockets upgrade back-up C and add an additional scorer in Beasely as well as get their 1st returned.

Lowry/Dragic
Martin/T.Williams
Beasley/Parson
Scola/Beasley?patterson
Dalembert/Milicic/Hill

The only trade NJ will include their pick in is a D12 trade.

do you think a sawp of:

Morrow, Farmar, Petro, '12 NJ 1st (top-2 protected)
for
Williams, Miller, Webster, '12 Utah 1st, '13 Memphis 1st

would entice the Nets? They cut salary for their chase for Dwight who will likely opt out after this year after not being traded and New Jersey could look attractive w/ Deron & Derrick Williams plus Brooks, James and a new areana in Brooklyn. Perhaps Lopez and maybe Humphries will re-sign cheaply.

I like Morrow, but not at the cost of Williams. We need help at SG, but don't want to overpay for a moderately above average player even if they're an upgrade.

And I don't think 1st from NJ would be in play, but that would make it tough to say no too.

?

If you don't think that Morrow and Courtney Lee are better than Rinour at SG I can't help you.

Budinger PER 15.8 >> Johnson PER 6.0. Plus Budinger is paid about $850,000

Williams for top-2 protected so we can pick up someone like Barnes or MKG or Drummond if he falls to sit behind Pek or a 4/5 guy.

Rubio/Ridnour/Barea
Morrow/Lee/Ellington
MKG/Budinger/Johnson
Love//?
Pekovic/Petro/Thabeet

There is no way NJ trades that pick, and no way Kahn moves Williams for Lee or Morrow without that pick.

I like Morrow, but he's a $4million backup player on the Nets, Lee is a backup, neither has tons of value. NJ is getting decent production at PF already (13 and 10, 18.4 Per from Humphries), not sure why they would want Williams. I'd love a real SG, but including a top 5 pick just torpedoes this deal.

Problem is if we get the pick and it hits 1 or 2, then there's a good chance the pick becomes a late first next year. Too much risk for my blood.
