I'd imagine Broussard was going to publish the ESPN piece at 9pm and he used Rudolph as his source, Rudolph had to wait till 9pm once the article was published.

i don't see our other pieces netting us enough value to land Monta.

Right now an Anderson for Ellis swap is likely a lateral move. Throw in the salary dump that GST is looking for and the other probable pieces we'd include (we aren't exchanging salary dumps in this trade, so think Nelson and Redick) and this deal is another bad one for Orlando (I'd say horrible). Anderson is having one of the best offensive seasons among 2ND options in the league and we know a stretch 4 is a huge weapon next to Dwight. Take back Biedrins or find a third team to take Lee, but I will be disappointed if Anderson is involved.

I thought it was already common knowledge that Otis has been in contact with GS almost weekly about Monta for the better part of the year. This is not new news and I am unfortunately not buying it. I wish I could buy into it, but just seems like journalists stirring the pot with old news to try to keep people interested.

That's not a trade, that's an orgy.

I actually noticed that but I chalked it up to me just being excited for this potential trade and grasping for straws.

Devin 1L wrote:I've discussed in the past my feelings that Monta Ellis is very overrated, so I won't go off on that at length, but I just wanted to post something that was brought to my attention recently.

Monta Ellis' adjusted plus-minus over the past four seasons:

2011-12: -3.98
2010-11: -6.81
2009-10: -6.53
2008-09: -2.2

Plus-minus can be fluky with small samples --even an entire season-- but this is four seasons worth of data!

If he were to be over-rated, he would be an all-star. He would earn close to 18 mil, not 11 mil.

i think most people are aware he does not play winning basketball. Then again, we need him to win games, we do not care about the brand of ball he plays. ORL is one of the very few teams he would be a real contributor.

We need Monta for one thing and one thing only, the same thing he happens to do at perennial all-star level. Have him score when system halts. Him getting a couple of iso buckets will make the opposing teams to adjust and ease the pressure on the system, which in turn make the system work again.

sending away JJ and Ryan only works if you get a significant contributor. denying that is denying basketball history. it will hurt you in the short run, but it will be better in the long run.

You lock up a star and then you add role players like JJ next off-season, which is a lot more easier to do. in fact, most of the time they come to you.

the only question here is if monta is that guy. that is debatable, but I am pretty sure a tier above is not gonna be available for ryno and jj, if at all available.

Stern said in Orlando at AS weekend they have lined up a buyer for the Hornets and expected the deal to close this week or early next week. That's important in this whole situation.
