A: Come on. You know Tim Duncan isn't going anywhere.
B: Garnett is going to retire if he gets traded. bet it.
C: You don't trade one of the up and coming bigs in the league in a Salary dump when you are already one of the top 5 teams in your conference with him.
D: You dump Al Horford for a salary dump, and no free agent is coming here except the ones that can't find a deal anywhere else. basically we become a team of Stephen Jackson's again.

Thats just a pretty bad trade dude.

A: Duncan could retire a Spur or we could lob $10 mil annually for 2 years and see if he bites.
B: Fear mongering. Either way Ryan Anderson is a RFA you can lob money too. Who else would pay him $8 million. He isn't becoming a superstar either. He's what we thought MArvin would be. A great role player who plugs holes shooting for guys who command double coverage. Bet it.
C: Please. Thats fearmongering. Demarcus Cousins is an up and coming big. Kevin Love was up and coming. Now he's arrived.
Horford is what he is. An all star center, albeit undersized. A bad post up guy. Good runner and passer.
He's not becoming a superstar.
D: see C and B. Stop the Fear mongering.

Horford is now available.

This might be the worst trade you've ever posted; Why the fu*k would we give away Horford just to get rid of Marvin??????

hahahaha check Garnett's contract. Then look up free agency

I personally don't care about Garnett's contract if it costs us Horford, and the only Unrestricted Free Agents I'd be interested in are Howard and Deron Williams, but neither of them want to come here so chasing after those 2 would be a lost cause unless it's by trade. The Restricted Free Agents are going to get resigned by their teams with the exception of maybe Eric Gordan but I'd rather have Horford than another guard. Excluding Dwight and D-Will Horford is more valuable than any of the FA's of the 2012 class. I repeat this is the worst trade you've ever posted.

So if the Wolves were willing to trade Beasly for a high 1st round pick, why not offer them Kirk and a 1st rounder for Beasly.

Then I would be open to trading Marvin for a 2nd rounder honestly, But I would rather trade him to phoenix for Childress

He is a double digit rebounder if there wasn't a board eater in the middle like Howard(you are seeing the same effect with Horford down, Smith rebounding goes up because there are more available rebounds to grab). Also he would get more shots.

Its not hard to see Ryan Anderson around 22-10 if they trade Howard. They are resigning the guy.

Otis Smith acknowledged that Dwight Howard's unsettled situation did factor into the team's decision because the team does not know what its roster will look like in the months and years ahead. Not extending Anderson's contract helps maintain some flexibility.

And how is Anderson better than Horford? We trade Horford for a salary dump and we get Anderson.
Teague
Joe
Smith
Anderson
Zaza
How is that better than
Teague
Joe
Smith
Horford
Pachulia
Also Al Horford can play the Center position which is something Ryan Anderson can't do

Would you guys want Steve Blake as an option at PG in a Hinrich deal. I realize he has more years on his deal, he's playing solid as a backup, and he's also fairly priced for those two remaining years and could be helpful in the playoffs.

No TPE and a 1st rd pick is fine or Darius Morris and a 1st.

For those of us who aren't idiots. Troy Murphy is a 6'11 250 lbs that comes in handy guarding PFs and playing some center.

Radmanovic is a SF quicker but not very physical. Murphy shoots a higher % than Radmanovic for his career and currently and turns it over a bit less. At any rate he's better defending size.

Only a troll would say Radmanovic> Murphy. Go tell a Laker fans that or offer him in a swap.

For those posters who are idiots, carry on.

Center isn't important?! Really? The fact that we don't have a Center is the reason Horford gets bullied in the paint and one of the main reasons we can't get past the second round. Everyone on this board has been preaching for years that we need a C so that Horford can shift over to his natural position of PF. Also out of your list Lopez and Mcgee will get resigned for sure; and again I repeat losing Horford for one of those FA's you mentioned would downgrade this team. Why in the hell would we give away our Building block for the future and 2 time All-Star and all-NBA third teamer (while playing out of position) for a salary dump and what would we do with that salary dump? Go into Free Agency and try to get a player that's not even as good as Horford? GTFO

Center position is not as important as PF, SG, SF,PG are.

Sorry. I meant towards winning a title. Lopez is resigned where? Where is Dwight going? Anderson going to play with Dwight or Lopez.

Where's Garnett going to retire: Malibu or the Carribean? Will Duncan resign for $6 million on Spurs where he's no longer a contender? Will he retire in shame rather than take $10 mil on a contender?

Nostradamus I'm dying to know! (not really. You need to chill out ATL boy).

So you theory is that Duncan, who is on a team that has one of the best records in the NBA the last couple of years(this one included) would leave the ONE team he has played for to go to a team with a WORSE record than his because going to the worse team will get him CLOSER to a championship? You realize they won 61 games last year...right? And that they are 24-11 now AFTER a tough start to the season? But yeaj, you are right, Duncan will definately go to HAWKS where he can be a real contender and leave that team that is better at the Point, SG, SF and bench that won 60 games because screw those guys.

Yes, 36 year old Kevin Garnett is going to come back to a fringe contender team like the Hawks because...they...um...remind me again why Garnett if he DOES play again would sign here> I am drawing a blank. Dwight? Lopez? You know full well neiter of them are coming here. Look, the trade was mind numbingly stupid. You want to trade a allstar in a salary dump in the hopes of signing a Allstar or former allstar in free agency...That is dumb sir.

I'm banking on:
+ the Hawks making a run in the playoffs with Garnett
+ Offering him a $9.5 mil 2 year deal for the small window we have with Joe anyways. Why not go all in.
+ signing a center. Asik, McGee, Hawes, kaman, Stiesma, Camby. Oh and Steve Nash and Kidd would make fine backups. :D
+ quality free agents coming here

I wouldn't be mad at:

Teague ; Kidd,Nash, Dre Miller, Ronie Price, Dooling, Pargo
Joe ; Redd/Allen/Pietrus/DeshawnStevenson
Smith ; Pietrus/Balkman/Al Thornton/Gee
Garnett ; K.Martin/Jamison/Murphy/Novak
Zaza + Kaman/Asik/McGee/Stiesma/Thabeet

Garnett - 9.5mil
center-
pg, sg, sf, pf

Bench
Tinsley/Ford/Price/Pargo ($1.5) or Kidd/Nash/Miller ($5million,2 years)
Allen ($5, 2 years) or Jason Terry ($4.5 million) or Deshawn/Redd ($2 mil) or Grant Hill ($3mil)
Thornton ($1.5) or Balkman ($1.5) or Earl Clark or Radmanovic or McGrady or Pietrus
PF: Murphy ($1.5) or Turiaf ($1.5) or Jordan Hill ($2 mill)
Kaman ($5 million) or Asik ($6million) or Thabeet ($2.5???) or Stiesma ($1.5)

example benches
Nash+Terry+Thornton+PF+Kaman = $17.5 million
Kidd+Terry+Thornton+PF+Kaman = $17.5 million

-------------------
example team
Teague(5*)+garnett(9.5)+Smith(13*)+Johnson(19)+Pachulia(5)= $51.5
Pargo+Allen+Thornton+PF+Kaman = $15
*Teague+Josh extended
------------------
Atlanta 66.5 million

But you could overpay for an Asik or sign Kaman + Stiesma. And we'd still be under tax salary and fielding an All Star laden team.
That's without Draft picks. I don't know if our draft range has any immediate contributors. But if you get creative, Marvin (negative) + Horford (3rd teamer, big whoop) are easily replaced.

Kevin Garnett
Josh Smith
Joe Johnson
Chris Kaman
Ray Allen

is 5 All Star caliber players and with some coming off the bench. Yeah anyone would want Duncan but he's not the only one out there.

(if Nash or Kidd or Dre Miller came that would be better)

Teague(5*)+garnett(9.5)+Smith(13*)+Johnson(19)+Pachulia(5)= $51.5
Nash+Allen+Thornton+PF+Kaman = $18

69.5 million

Marvin Williams to NO for Trevor Ariza

I would send a 2nd rd pick if push came to shove. Ariza is averaging 3.5 assists a game while basically giving you Marvin numbers in other categories. That playmaking ability would come in handy.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
