This is the problem with the Magic's line of thinking. Right now they are too focused on names as they have been throughout the last few years:

- The Magic get killed every night at the backup big man spots. A third player in this spot that can actually play would lift the team by a dramatic margin.
- The Magic get killed again at the PG position for 48 minutes.
- The Magic do not have an athletic SF that can help on the defensive end.

It's not that hard to acquire players that can help with these needs in the NBA, yet Otis is doing this crazy song and dance to acquire a name player who isn't all that efficient. If the Magic were to even get average production out of these spots they'd improve dramatically, I'd argue better than the Bulls.

those issues were addressed for the most part... they were called the 2008-2009 Orlando Magic... sigh... all that team needed was just a play-maker/scorer, and it would have been complete... then Otis messed it up... I mean he got Ryan Anderson... but everything else he did has been devastating and crippling.

Ive said since day one our priorities should be backup PG and a backup C but it seems like Otis completely looks over this and is convinced perhaps we need a bigger move to keep Dwight. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up settling for a decent backup PG and some Center, and it might make us better, but it might not matter to Dwight. This is all about Dwight and what he needs to stay here.

If we keep Dwight without his word that he will stay, I don't know if I can stay a fan of this team. Something WILL happen. Whether we like it or not, something will happen.

To those who asked about the info I posted, my friend does production related work with the Magic. He just tells me info based off word of mouth. He's not an insider but he knows enough people. I'll keep you updated. Maybe he will be the first to break a big story.

Whether the old Magic did or didn't make those upgrades though doesn't change what needs to happen now. In two games against Miami, Orlando proved that Dwight's presence could hold Miami in check without athletic wings since Dwight can come off of Joel Anthony. Here's a list of players that could make an impact that would be far easier to acquire:

- Ramon Sessions
- Drew Gooden (needs a compliment on the defensive end which is the next guy, a shot-blocker)
- Anthony Randolph

Ish Smith should be the backup PG at 12 mpg. He can match up with Norris Cole.

Those names don't look like much but they're league average players or slightly above that (Sessions). Unfortunately your GM is too short-sighted and wets his pants over names.

That makes a ton of sense; but if you were the GM that kept Dwight here by making some bold/good trades you are suddenly a legend in O-town.

The other part of that question was - Is having Otis on the phones making it harder to trade with Orlando; or is it just our assets nobody wants?

As much as we may undervalue our guys at certain times I think there are plenty of teams that would trade for our guys or 3 team package trades that could work.

We've seen enough of them in these threads...

It just makes me wonder if Otis has burned to many bridges or what? Even now GSW (whom because of his prior relationship he seems to use as a farm system somewhat) is struggling to trade us Monta? Who they have been shopping ever since his new contract/scooter accident. I don't get it.

Since the theme seems to be superstitious how about this one?

This is thread #14 so maybe this is the thread that Jameer gets moved for an actual starting PG or a big time superstar because he wears #14..

I can't believe there have been ZERO trades so far league wise.

thanks prodigy for the info, i think we're all dying for anything at this point

I'm wondering if Sjax is "on the table" for whenever we want him
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.
