NOH/ROX/MN

Post#1 » by WetWildandWeird » Sun Mar 4, 2012 6:50 pm

Bear with me I am hoping to gauge the value of some players in particular Kaman, Lee, and Dally

MN
IN: Lee, Dally
Out: Wes, Beasley, Utah 1st, MEM 1st

HOU
IN: Kaman, Beasley, MEM 1st
OUT: Lee, Dally, Hill, Thabeet

NO
IN: Wes, Thabeet, Hill, Utah 1st
Out: Kaman

MN: We do it because it obviously gets us a 2 and a devensive C, we lose 2 1st which are of no consiquence and we will have our own in 2013 anyway

HOU: Gets murky here, I had seen that they had some interest in Kaman earlier not sure if they still do. Rounds out their lineup with Lowry/Martin/Beasley/Scola/Kaman with a decent bench.

NO: Gets a pick for Kaman, cap relief and a young player. Not sure they could do much better, AR works instead of Wes if they would rather have straight cap relief. They can also keep Hill and Thabeet if they feel like it.

Comments, derisive or constructive, are greatly appreciated.

Not bad. Makes some sense for all the teams involved. Courtney Lee is certainly a good target for the Wolves.

The biggest issue you're going to have is whether the Rockets value Kaman plus Beasley as much as they do Lee. I'm guessing that might be a 'no.'

If you look at the protections on and likelihood of realizing those picks, they have significantly more value in being called "1st round picks" than they will ever have in real life.

Thats pretty much where i stand on them, also with their protections and our draft history theyre definitely worth more to someone else who can analyze late round talent

I agree to a point, it would seem to just make more sense from a go for it run to move your inconsistant back up 2 for a starting 3 and 5 albeit not the best ones around. I dont watch enough of Lee but to me this just seems like swapping for fit.

This is kinda why I wanted others takes. I may be waaaaay off base with my assesments of Kaman (I view him as maginal at best, just saw that HOU had interest in him for whatever reason) and Lee

I personally view Beas as dead weight same goes for Johnson but he actually has an additional year on his deal so that is negative value. As for the picks we are more likely to draft a Wayne Ellington or Lazar Hayward than a Marshon Brooks if they are even given to us at all. How exactly is giving up dead roster space for our coveted 2 and a defensive 5 both who are playing above average "Horrible."

Granted this is assuming you are looking at this from a Wolves perspective

i'm not sure, we are very likely to receive the Memphis 1st next year in addition to our own and Utah is top 12 I believe and if they can get guys like Hayward, Burks, Favors, Kanter to improve they can be an 8 seed or just miss the playoffs which would give us their pick. We could have 3 1sts next offseason without too large of a stretch of the imagination.

Plus I don't trust our only options at SG/SF being Lee/Webster. What if Webster goes down to injury again? Hopefully Williams can prove he can make it work at SF otherwise this leaves us very thin. I'd much rather sub one of Johnson/Beasley out for another player. Plus Lee is a restricted free agent, so we can always make an offer this offseason and I don't believe C is that big of a need right now.

You are fooling yourself if you think Lee is a better player than Beasley. He is better than Wes and fits our team better than Beasley but honestly he's an average player. Better defender than Beasley, worse offensively. I think our SG need has become so horrid that people here jump at every available SG. :D

And on top of it with the emergence of Pek. Do you really want to pay 7 mil to Dalembert?
Let Darko sit on the bench for 5 mil. That's better than 7 for Dalembert.

Well sounds like I was off but to assess that last few comments

Draft: Crapshoot I personally would rather not have 3 rookies coming in in 2013, especially 3 late firsts just me but whatever. They probably wouldnt be entirely necessary in this trade anyway from the Rockets perspective.

Thin SF - I thought Williams was supposed to be a SF and getting rid of Wes and to a lesser extent Beas is addition by subtraction

Beas > Lee - Disagree Beas is only better in PER Lee has actually shown to be a competent BBall player and I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say they are a wash so it comes down to who is a better fit and I would go with Lee.

Dally - Darko is downright terrible and Dallys contract is non guaranteed next year so its not a bad situation for a rental and he would be huge improvement over Darko we add no long term money and rid ourselves of Wes' capspace and Beasleys 12 million caphold if we wanted to retain his rights

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
