Looking towards the draft

Were bound to pick within the 1-10 range and I'd like to know who you guys think can take us to that next level. I don't watch a ton of college basketball but I've seen enough Kentucky games to come to the conclusion that Kidd-Gilchrist might be the best way to go. He looks like Ron Artest 2.0 to me (but with a better head on his shoulders). Now I'm interested to know who you guys think is the right pick in this deep deep draft.

I like Kidd but he has little range. I think we need shooters around DMC and Reke especially at the three spot. Great defensive player and rebounder though. I say we take the best player available and get Batum in free agency. Maybe with a late lotto pick we look at Meyers Leonard to be our center of the future. Can knock down the outsude shot, weakside shotblocking and solid rebounder. Would give us a big frontline again like when we had Sammy. We need a guy to protect the paint.

I agree with you about getting somebody to protect the paint but at what point do we raise the question "What are we going to do with Whiteside?" I mean this guy could be that guy that we need and there's just so much uncertainty with Whiteside and overall just with the Kings at the moment that it's hard to tell where we should go. None of our SF's look like legitimate 3's on a contending team so does that mean we take a look at Barnes and Jones III? But at the same time we need somebody who is not ball dominant and can delegate when to give DMC or Reke the ball and get out of the way. This is why I'm just at such a loss for a solution because in my opinion, we draft a 3 but we need a role playing 3, not another Salmons or Thornton. This team is already struggling as it is playing unselfish team basketball.

Even though there is a debate on whether he is a 3 or a 4 i really like Perry Jones. Most teams will look at his lack of willingness to be a first option as a negative but that could be a big positive considering we are NOT looking for ball dominant players. Kid has huge ceiling and decent range not to mention he rebounds realllly well for a 3/4

I don't know about this draft, I think all the people thinking this is going to produce all star after all star are going to be disappointed. A lot of good players though and it would be perfect to add Davis to the front line. He's no superstar but you're talking about the best compliment to Cousins possible maybe.

One of my sleeper picks is Draymond Green. You want to talk Ron Artest 2.0, this dude is it. He's gotten so much better at SF which is a total surprise in my book. Definitely a 3/4 combo now whereas he used to be a purely undersized 4. His passing is off the charts, his defense is lockdown, and he can rebound to boot. I've seen him going undrafted on some boards, totally ridiculous. Whoever gets this guy is going to be very happy because he'll come in right away and help a team win.

I agree with the draft being deep but not star loaded. Davis would be nice to add next to Cousins. The more I watch the Kings though we need a point guard badly.

You're right about Green. He's going to be a Josh Howard type player that goes late and then you look back after his solid NBA campaign and everyone goes how was he undervalued. Hopefully he can play the 3 in the pros though.

Starting to follow NCAA more and more.

Davis next to Cousins would just be an absolute dream. I envision Davis as a better offensive Marcus Camby. The exact type of player to place next to DeMarcus. However, Davis will be a top 2 pick at worst.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. He will be legit. AMAZING defender. Great athleticism. Amazing effort. Amazing work ethic. Amazing team player. Great at boxing out. Think of Gerald Wallace/Ron Artest but with Kevin Durant's personality. And he's only 18 (will turn 19 sometime in March). Gilchrist would be the exact type of personality to add to this core. Problem is, he does not have much range, meaning I do not see him and Tyreke working out well in the same lineup. However, I would be willing to trade Tyreke and keep Gilchrist over him. He should be drafted between 3-8.

Jared Sullinger. Amazing touch and hands. Not too explosive or athletic. Could work out well with DMC, but probably not ideal. Should be drafted around 4-8.

Lamb/Beal. Both are great shooters and both can play off-ball and still score (something this roster desperately lacks). Both should be drafted around 5-8.

John Henson. He is an intriguing player to pair up with DeMarcus. Great shotblocker. Long. Wrecks havoc with his length. However, he's extremely skinny...which makes me fear of a Hawes/Whiteside situation. He should be drafted around 8-14. While he could be a bust due to his lack of strength, he also could develop into the player we all wanted Whiteside to become.

John Hensen goes on my UNC DO NOT DRAFT list. hahaha. Schools typically go after the same type of players year after year to recruit and he definitely fills that Brandon Wright slot of them. Might in the NBA too. Should be decent but scary pick IMO.

My draft wishlist

#1- Davis. Great shotblocker to play along side Cousins.

#2- Harrison Barnes. He has all the tools to be our cornerstone SF for the next decade.

#3- Kidd-Gilchrist. Others have already touched on his play/effort/personality. What is not to like about this kidd?
