Anthony Randolph worth a look?

Post#1 » by nykballa2k4 » Wed Mar 7, 2012 5:02 am

Clearly everyone here knows the Nets situation for next season of needing to clear up space.

If the Nets were to deal Petro, Morrow and a first for Wes Johnson and Anthony Randolph, the Nets would have relatively cheap help for if Dwight were to join, and youngish talent if Dwight stays put.

When Lopez comes back, Nets can have the athletic guys off the bench in Green and Randolph.

As a Knick fan, I was excited when we got AR, but we did not use him enough, and when he was in, he had the shot selection of Al Harrington.

At the very least he can stat pad and provide some highlights on both ends of the court while not doing much to the wins/losses. Wes is also a position of need, rather than Morrow who is just a shooter.

That first better be protected, because I'm not going to give an unprotected pick for that package. I don't even know if I'd give the Rockets pick, in actuality.

Morrow, Petro, Miami 2nd rounder, and cash considerations

for

Johnson and Randolph.

Meh, doesn't seem like enough for the Wolves, but adding the first seems too much. Maybe add Jordan Williams, whatever good that'd do.

Don't think I'd trade for him honestly.

Anthony Randolph is Mr.Potential.

He has all of the potential in the world, but the dude has done practically nothing to act on it lol.

We maybe all Nets fans(some I doubt)... And we all are entitled to our own opinion.... But what (on god's green earth) gives us the right to pick and choose who is entitled to play pro ball? When we know that if push came to shove most of us would give up our first born just to earn what these guy's make in a 10 day contract.... Not for financial security.... But just to know that we/you belonged...

Anthony Randolphs box scores when he plays look amazing. His talents are there, he just thinks he is a scorer a la Odom or KG.

As for this trade idea, the deal is as much about getting rid of Petro and getting Wes Johnson as it is getting AR.

People will say things like "if only Tyrus Thomas had a chance" well he had his this season, and failed. AR never really had this chance. He would have on the knicks, but D'Antoni is one of the worst coaches in the NBA.

I like what Silas did with the Bobcats this season, he knew the team was not going to win, so let the vets play early on, possibly gearing for a trade (maggette still could be moved..)

If you got him for basically nothing, and you actually PLAYED HIM, Anthony Randolph would be amazing for your current team. Seriously.
A smart coach once said, "Potential just means you're not good enough yet." Playing on potential is like living on air: It's essential, but if thats all you have, you're eventually going to starve.

I think I get what Aussie means: People claim AR's lack of desire to perfect his craft mean he does not "belong" still he has enough talent, which alone makes him belong. There are cases where guys don't really belong in this league, but are due to contacts. For example Diop's roster spot, or Tyrus Thomas's roster spot would be better spent on a DLeague all star for the league min.

Any of us would love to have the chance to get paid, so the issue is not the PLAYER but the fool who gives him money for his lack of production.
