Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
I love Biz. He loves it here, he's the type of player that will be indebted to us for giving him a chance and be here his whole career, and he is freaking 19 years old. Imagine this guy 4 years from now. This franchise really needed a home run draft pick. Would anyone in the NBA take Kanter over Biyombo right now or for the future?

Two 7 blocks game so far for Biz. He's inching closer and closer to double digits. Wouldn't be surprised to see him net 10 points/ 10 rebounds/ 10 blocks a couple of times in his career.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Here's the really scary part. If Biz can really work on his mechanics, footwork, post offense and jump shot, add some extra muscle/weight (get more man-strength), imagine how good he can become? That's a tall order, but the more I've seen of him, the more coachable he appears. Reportedly he works hard, is learning well, and is willing to apply the lessons to his game. Only time will determine how much he can grow. I would suggest we not raise expectations too high regarding his offensive potential. Few players can "train" themselves into becoming excellent shooters, or post players who develop a wide assortment of outstanding "touch" shots near the rim. Biz just needs to develop a few key go-to moves & shots for when he is isolated on the block. A mid-range jumper would be nice.
His duel with Howard was interesting, as the best-case model for Biz' potential path could be Dwight himself.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
He's much farther along on offense then I ever thought. First, he is now playing 30 minutes without being in foul trouble. That is shows you just how quickly he has picked up the game. Did anyone think he would ever be able to play 30 minutes without fouling out this season? From the start, I sure didn't. Second he showed a post move last game against Dwight, and boy was it sweet. It went down like a charm. That shows me he DOES have potential to back someone down, someone bigger than him, and still get the ball up and into the basket. He has also shown that he is very mobile and rolls towards the basket very well. Once he gets a feel for the game he will start to roll and get rewarded with baskets. That's all he has shown right now. Now assume he works in a shot (which he isn't completely limited based on video's of practice, just has to bring it out to games) and a few other attributes. This guy is always going to be a defensive stud, and has already developed a much better rebounding touch. Give him 4 years and I think he is not only a great defender, but also a consistent scorer. So excited for his career!

Wolves fan coming in Peace
Love Bismack, really wanted him for ourselves.
With that said I really like your team, gonna be good in a few years Cho will get you the guys you need just need to wait out some of your more bloated contracts. Kemba, Hendo, and BB are a good core. Hopefully the first pick this year than maybe (hopefully not?) another lotto in 2013 and PORs pick you guys will be sitting pretty. Now what to do with TT?
Best of luck in the draft guys and Ill be rooting for you as long as youre not playing the wolves.
PS if you blow it up can we get dibs on BB and Hendo?

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
biz stats as a starter (not counting the detroit game where he got hurt after 8 minutes).
games started: 10
minutes/game: 27
points.game: 6.3
rebounds/game: 8.7
blocks/game: 2.8
steals/game: 0.6
fouls/game: 2.3
field goal %: 52%
free throw %: 45%
the boston game where he started, played 21 minutes and only had 3 points, 2 rebounds and 0 blocks is really pulling down his starter averages.

Also fellas keep in mind that Biz has progressed this far without benefit of a training camp.
Thanks for the love WetWild. As I am sure you can tell by now we like Biz pretty good ourselves.
While I would love to give you dibs I can almost assure you that you will not want to give up who we will want back.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
From Elias: Bismack Biyombo had 15 rebounds and blocked seven shots in the Bobcats' 100-84 come-from-behind upset win over the Magic. The only other rookie to register at least 15 rebounds and seven or more blocks in an NBA game over the last 10 seasons was coincidentally the man who started at center against Biyombo on Tuesday night. Dwight Howard had 15 boards and seven rejections as a rookie in an overtime game against the Bulls in April 2005.

Let me put it this way: Can I have both?

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
there was some poster on the GB who said yesterday that the cats reached for biz at 7 and that he shouldnt be considered one of the top 10 rookies. what a ridiculous statement. i'd have to think that the jazz, wizards, cavs (2nd pick) and raptors would all strongly consider biz if a re-draft was done today.

Biz was a nice pick up for you guys but I highly doubt the Raps would do anything different.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
theres a whole massive thread on the GB about how Valanciunas is the next foreign superstar and it seems like they all think he's guaranteed ROY and perennial all star. I guess its easy to say stuff like that when he's over playin scrubs in Lithuanian league or wherever. I'm just glad Biz paid his buyout to come over here, I'd be too depressed to even discuss him if he was stuck in ACB all this year
