If Orlando plays hardball at the deadline, don't be surprised to see NJ move Lopez for Smith and go all in on signing Dwight outright.

could happen quite easily. NJ can throw in a top 5 protected pick from this draft to really sweeten the pot, if they have to.

but if it does, Nets are gonna have to find a way to Move Morrow/Farmar to have enough room to sign Dwight outright.

Dwight

as if that team isn't a baller!?

From talking to people in Atlanta, they would definitely want to attach Marvin Williams in any deal.

Dwight

Nelson/Duhon

(and just for parity)

Jefferson/Zaza
Horford*/BBD
Marv
Joe Johnson
Teague

We'd have scope to use Dwight/Anderson/Smith in a nice 3 man rotation between the 3-5 spots, so everyone would get plenty of minutes, including Hedo (if he were to get unhappy). we'd get a MASSIVE boost in defense from Smith and Hinrich, but we'd still lack a go to scorer.

We make out worst in that trade. Hinrich is worthless at this point, and the hawks would rather let him expire than to take on Big Baby when Al Horford will be back next year. The Wolves won't have a need for Richardson if the rumored, Ridnour for Crawford deal happens. Redick and Beas aren't enough to make the Jazz bite.

We make out worst?? JSmith is WAY better, and far more capable of making an impact than JJ/JRich/BBD. we need to consolidate some of our depth for stars who make a dramatic impact in the minutes they're given.

Hawks may not want BBD for the long run, but they may want to remain competitve for the rest of the season, and i'm not sure a Zaza/Jefferson front court would mesh all that well. if they don't want to give up Hinrich's expiring, then take out BBD and Hinrich all together and replace with some fillers like Orton/Earl/Harper/etc

As for the Jazz and Jefferson, well how highly they value him, and the rest of the league values him, is a very open question. i don't think anyone really knows the going price on him, but given that he was acquired for a TPE, i'd say a JJ + Beas (on expiring deals) is plenty fair value, especially given that they need to make room for their young front court guys, and they have no wing depth.

Oh, and there's no point saying "Minny won't have a need if XXXXX deal goes through", because until it goes through, it's not a deal and they still have a need.

Who says no?

1. Reddick, Fillers, and 1st R Pick for Nash.

2. J Rich, 3 Million, and Nelson for Danny Granger.

3. Anderson for Tmac and a backup big. We win a ring with that team

Nash
Granger
Hedo
Tmac - Stretch 4

Here's how we make out worst.
if Josh so much as sprains an ankle, Dwight and Ryan are playing 48 mins. Hinrich can't be counted on to play more than 10 mins right now (he does, and it's killing them), how can he be a starter for us? You make our guard rotation worse while sapping the front court of ANY depth.

From the Hawks perspective, they know they can't compete this year, which is why they won't rush Al back from injury. Also, any trade they make will also try to dump Marvin Williams. If Josh and Marvin for Carmelo is really on the table (doubtful) why not jump on that instead?

The Jazz can get more for Al than JJ and Beasely. The motto in this league is never to trade big for small. They definitely say no.

If you don't like me saying the Wolves won't need Richardson if XXXX, then how about the Wolves just don't want Richardson? There are better, younger SG to be had. If they just want scoring, they can just keep Beas.

Let's entertain the idea that the Hawks trade Smith to us. Who then can we give the ball to in the 4th quarter and tell them to go to work? We still have the same problems as before. No go to scorer. No guy that can iso and take his guy off the dribble.

^^ The idea of the Wolves wanting JRich over Beasley is that Derrick Williams is basically the same type player as Beasley and with Rubio hitting JRich for open shots he would be great for them as a bigger spot up shooter who can make the 3 ball on a consistent basis.

It's no secret that Minnesota is likely to trade Michael Beasley, with the most interested potential suitors being the Boston, the Lakers and Orlando. The Magic are pursuing multiple avenues in an attempt to improve the team in the hopes that a long playoff run could persuade Howard to stay. If Orlando holds off on trading Howard at the deadline, sources say Beasley could be a viable piece for the Nets to add as they try to upgrade their talent to make the team more attractive to Howard and Deron Williams.

I'd take Beasley whether we keep Dwight or not. He is talented and can make his own buckets. Something we really need. Sure, he is a knucklehead sometimes, but hopefully that is just youth.

My issue with this is that I could very well see Otis giving up more than Beasely is worth. And I doubt Stan starts him over Hedo, which would frustrate the hell out of me.

Plus, the move doesn't really keep Dwight.

Beasely is shooting 42% on 3s, do you think J-Rich is a better option? Or is it just that you think the "SG" next to his name makes him a better fit. They want a creator, and J-Rich isn't that.

I would prefer to play Beasley as the backup forward. He can play both forward spots and not have free reign to shoot as much as he wants with the second unit.
