Would you still trade Williams for Gordon?
Now that Williams is emerging and Gordon hasn't played all year? I'm curious to see if people's opinions have changed. I've become more wary of Gordon myself. I don't put a lot of trust in wing players that are injury prone and have recent knee issues.
I'd still love to get Gordon but only for the right price. I feel like trading Williams might be overbidding at this point.

I haven't put much attention toward the hornets or Gordon since the beginning of the season. I thought I read that he was quoted as saying he had some cartilage problems, not sure so do quote me, but that is a major turn off.

Considering I wouldn't trade Williams for Gordon before, no my opinion hasn't changed. Gordon has played 2 of 39 games this season. Williams has played in 40 of 40 games this season.

If Gordon would sign an extension here at a fair price, I think I'd probably pull the trigger. I don't think Gordon would sign an extension here without us massively overpaying though, So I don't foresee this happening.

Re: Would you still trade Williams for Gordon?
As long as Gordon checks out medically, I'd do it. I think Williams will be good, but to me he's a PF who might be able to play some SF but would be playing out of position. Gordon on the othrr hand is a perfect fit for what we need, other than his penchant for getting hurt.

No way. Gordon is about to be expensive and will always be unreliable in health. Much better to have Derrick and be able to try for a guy like Batum this off-season or Harden next. I'd take him at that right price, but that price is nowhere near what I'd give for those guys. Definitely not DW.

Re: Would you still trade Williams for Gordon?
I think Gordon is heading to Indiana, they will have massive cap space, and it's his hometown team... that said, if he was healthy I'd still do the deal in a sign and trade. No way otherwise. His knee issue is much the same as Lee's, not a big deal, though his propensity for getting injured makes me think he needs a new training regimen.

Gordon for cap space at $12 mil a year? Sure.
Gordon for Williams at $12 mil a year? No.

Re: Would you still trade Williams for Gordon?
I think Gordon would be a very good fit BUT Indiana is going to throw a lot of money at him and I can see the Hornets matching. If I'm the Wolves I clear out enough cap-space to throw $12.5 or $13 million at him with an insured contract. At least when Pacers or Hornets match they'll have overpaid.

Re: Would you still trade Williams for Gordon?
One thing to remember is that New Orleans has been tanking all season long. Not sure how much this fact plays into Gordon being out pretty much all year long. I wouldn't be surprised if the Hornets management and coaching staff held him out longer than necessary.
However, if Gordon had knee/health issues when he was on the Clippers, I guess my point is moot.
Edit: just checked his profile. He has missed 20+ games during the last three years. Ugh.

Re: Would you still trade Williams for Gordon?
I really like Eric Gordon. I think he is arguably the best young SG in the league, before this season I had always put him above Harden. However, considering a) he wants to sign a long contract, b) his injury
profile, and c)Clippers traded him away because he wanted almost a MAX contract, I wouldn't trade
a future serviceable starter like Derrick Williams for him.
However, If he wanted to play for us for 42M/4y, I would definitely trade for him as long as he passes the health tests. Injuries apart he is a top 5 SG who would fit terribly well in our team.

Re: Would you still trade Williams for Gordon?
If "reports" are to be believed, Gordon turned down around 4yrs / $50m from the Hornets at the extension deadline and wanted at least 4/58. If the Hornets offered $50m, they'll match anything another team can throw at Gordon. Not us or Indiana is going to get him as a FA. How big of a laughing stock would Stern look like if the two main assets he traded Paul away for ended up being a middlle round first (ours) and a player who left as a FA after playing two games in New Orleans. It's not going to happen.
Now, I think the Hornets will be very open to sign and trade offers this offseason though. I could see a Granger for Gordon swap or if we're involved, a Williams for Gordon deal, but I don't see anything happening at the deadline.

New Orleans isn't trading for Granger, they're going to want youth. Granger is 29.

This sums up my thoughts perfectly.
He's a HUGE injury risk, no chance I blow a huge load on a guy that we'd never be confident that he'd be healthy. Trading Williams and then having to give him a huge contract so we didn't lose him for nothing definitely is a stupid idea.
Keep Williams, then offer a sign and trade in the summer. If that gets him, then awesome. If not, oh well.
