http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/ ... des-happen
Michael Beasley, Daniel Orton, Justin Harper, Anthony Randolph and Orlando's first-round pick to Milwaukee; J.J. Redick, Beno Udrih and the rights of Fran Vazquez to Minnesota; Jon Brockman, J.J. Barea and Ersan Ilyasova to Orlando

Orlando is looking for pieces to add around Dwight Howard, rather than trade Howard, and this is one way to do it. The key is whether Milwaukee is ready to say uncle and give up on making the playoffs. If so, using Ilyasova as the lure to dump bad contracts makes a lot of sense.

The key to the deal is Ilyasova, who has been crushing for Milwaukee lately (including 32 against the Bulls on Wednesday, a 29-25 against the Nets and seven double-doubles in his past 10 starts); unfortunately, he also has an expiring contract and may very well return to Europe before next season.

To get his rights, the Magic send a couple of low-level prospects to the Bucks and then Redick and Vazquez to Minnesota. Why Minnesota? Redick gives the Wolves a real NBA shooting guard who can space the floor for Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic, and Vazquez might be more tempted to come over from Spain if he can link up with former teammate and fellow Spaniard Rubio.

To get those players, the Wolves give the Bucks a free look at two prospects they won't be inviting back, Beasley and Randolph; additionally, Minnesota takes on the more onerous contract of Udrih from Milwaukee.

Completing the circle, Minnesota sends Barea back to Orlando -- a true pick-and-roll point guard who would be very effective in the Magic's system, and could replace the miserable Chris Duhon.

If Milwaukee was really looking to dump dollars, it could add another component to this trade by sending Drew Gooden to Orlando for Earl Clark; the rest of it would be cap kosher because Ilyasova and Brockman fit into the Brandon Bass trade exception worth $4.2 million.

I like Hollinger's Proposed deal.
Trade S. Jackson soon. NJ seems like a nice place for him.

I'd definitely do the deal above.

(The Hollinger one where we get ORL's 1st rounder)

I especially like his dump of Gooden in the deal at the bottom, then amnesty Jax and we'd have a ton of cap space this summer.

This thread is positively chalk full of national and local trade ideas/rumors after seemingly weeks with nothing. A RealGM'rs dream!

Reddick, a ~20th pick, and Vazquez for Barea and Ilyasova? Can't decide if that's good for Orlando or not. Throwing in Gooden makes it a bad deal for the Magic, but I do think he would be a nice complement to Howard. Stand outside and shoot better from mid-range than most pf's, then watch him clean up all your mistakes on d.

ETA: Unforunately Hollinger is assuming that the Bucks would do something that makes any sense whatsoever given their situation. Trading for a draft pick and prospects is too much of what they need and not enough of what they're obsessed with.

But we don't really want McGee... because he isn't very good.

His career PER is better than Bogut's. His PER is much higher than Bogut's since Bogut's injury.

He's nowhere near the defender a healthy Bogut is. He's a better defender than Bogut when Bogut is sitting on the bench in street clothes (but it's closer than you might think).

Mcgee to Milwaukee needs to happen, if for no other reason than the reality show potential of combining McGee and Skiles. I'd have them live together too. They do have the Michigan connection though(Skiles @ MSU and Epic Vale from Flint), so maybe it would turn out like those coming of age movies where Skiles helps McGee become a man and McGee helps Skiles leran to love again.

Or maybe Skiles would just murder McGee. Either way, I'd watch.

LOL....forgive my fellow Bucks fans. They don't see what we see my friend. McGee would be PERFECT.

And if Skiles has any objection to playing him, fire him! No more getting players that Skiles won't play. That BS as far as Hammond staying here has to STOP!

McGee can be just the player Bogut is. IQ doesn't win games. It keeps you in games and makes the coach look smart and good but that is all. TALENT WINS in the NBA. I want playmakers.

Can ...you...make a play? Yes or no? Can you make a basektball play to effect the game or change the game or bring a dimension or look that the other team has to deal with? Yes or no?

i don't care if Bogut is smart and can rotate right if he can't make that work for him in wins. That is what coaching is for. Take what you have and make it work! Stop looking at perceived shortcomings and take what a guy has and make it work.

McGee is not a scrub. I see all kind of uptapped potential there. I see nothing but what you got in Bogut. He is what he is...Just becasue a guy is athletic and came from the streets does not mean he is dumb. And just because he is a foreign or international flavor guy does not mean he is NBA smart.

I am getting off topic here but we got this basketball caste system in here when comparing players. If i was coaching I can take McGee right now today if I was coaching and put him on the Bucks and do more with him then I could with Bogut right now...

That is a fact. And he is easier to build around. You simplify his game and get a solid cerebral backup for him and he is a monster and borderline All Star...no doubt about it.

We should be able to get more for Ersan than a late first.

Which is why I only like it if we dump Udrih and Gooden. I'm not sure the TWolves would like that deal either. We do get Harper and Clark but, well, you know...maybe we can flip Beas for another pick.

Actually, I much more a realise and what exactly do you expend back for an often-injured player, one that will leave for Europe next season and a couple guys that want out?

If nothing else we'd be a more athletic team and there's no way Jackson can be included in the deal without having to take on Lewis' contract, it just won't work!

We save a bunch of money. We could trade into the money saved next year and pick up assets. Money saved is equivalent to assets.

Well personally I'm going with the assumption that Ersan is walking so that package is a dream. We come away with Beasley (fairly recent #2), Randolph (22), Orton (21), Harper (liked him at Richmond), and a very late first. That is actually way too good to be true in my eyes, although I could see where you'd either want to build going forwrad with Ersan or get a higher first rounder for him. I take that package and f'n run.

I wonder if a 2012 Orlando pick or 2013 Orlando pick would be better...

Its not a terrible deal, but If Beno would really have opted out remaining here they don't really save any salary. And a late first is meh. Not sure why the national media is concerned with clearing up our salary by removing a guy with only an additional year remaining, what would the Bucks do with cap space if they made more trades and generated enough to sign a talented FA anyway? This team needs to deal for picks, or find a way to lose a Gooden, or a Headcase.
