Apparently Atlanta's asking price is pretty steep. I just don't see a way where we would be able to get Smith on this team that we would all be happy about.

I don't like Smith that much, I know it won't show in the stats but I think even at this point Brand would be the better player for this team. His defensive presence has been huge for us this year. I know Smith isn't a bad defender but I don't ever see him being the type of guy to go toe to toe with Howard.

I haven't looked for anything in writing but one of the Jazz mods posted that they would be willing to move Favors on the trade board. Color me interested.

Wonder what their asking price would be.

I would be interested to a point. I certainly would love to have a young, talented, athletic big man for Collins to groom alongside Vucevic for the future. However, my bait remains the same in Lou Williams. Knowing what I know about Utah, they could certainly use a young guard, but what do they think of Lou? What would be nice would be that if there was any merit to the rumor set forth in another thread that Collins preferred Favors over Turner, now he could possibly have both.

Wait a minute here. I just read this again a bit more closely. Did you say one of the MB moderaters? Who cares if a forum board moderator would be willing to deal Favors? I thought he was actually available.

No he was reciting a rumor he read. I haven't attempted to track down the original article.

I know Krazy and I wouldn't mind seeing JJ Hickson added to the fold. To that end, J. Hollinger of ESPN posted this trade proposal as of 1 of 8 leaguewide trades that should be made. Personally, I'd be thrilled to see it happen, but since he simply made it up, it probably won't:

Craig Brackins and a second-round pick to Sacramento for J.J. Hickson

View this deal in ESPN.com's NBA Trade Machine

76ers - Hickson
The Sixers need post scoring in the worst way, and Hickson fairly accurately fits that definition. While one could bust this into a larger deal using Andres Nocioni's expiring contract, let's focus on the basics here: The Kings want to get a halfway decent draft pick for Hickson after trading a first-rounder to Cleveland in the offseason to get him, and would probably swallow a high second-rounder along with a bit of their pride to be rid of him now.

Philly just happens to have a 2013 second-rounder from New Orleans lying around, which is likely to be in the low 30s, and could use that to complete the deal. The Kings would also get a free look at Brackins, who is basically an unknown quantity after hardly playing for two seasons.

If they wanted, the Kings could do it without Brackins, as Hickson fits into the Sixers' $2.7 million trade exception from the Marreese Speights deal earlier this season.

Let the guessing game begin...sportswriter Roland Lazenby is reporting on Twitter that Pau Gasol is being moved but does not say to whom or for what. Given that Gasol's name has periodically appeared on our board, I'm interested in what the return was.

Ever since my computer broke (early January), I haven't been on the board as much as I would like...thus haven't followed the Sixers as closely either (besides watching the games). Besides for reading this thread, what is the general consensus that the Sixers try to make a move, even if small?

I'm not a big Favors fan. I remember watching one of his pre-draft interviews and thinking he seemed about as smart as MoSpeights. I could be wrong, maybe he's a genius... just didn't seem like a guy I would want to build my future around.

While everyone mocks Turner as a bust/disappointment to this point, I haven't thought Favors has looked very good either.

I think the only think that we have that Utah would want in a Favors deal would be Iggy. And IMO that's us overpaying. WIth JTI seeming like it would work, seems like a bad time to move Iggy. I just don't think Lou has the value to get it done.

I think a move for Hickson is a no-brainer. If Brackins/TPE/2nd in some combination can get it done, its a no-lose situation for us.

I agree completely. I've never been all that impressed with Favors. Although he's looked pretty decent in both games against Philly. I have a hard time believing that Utah's looking to trade him, anyway. To hear their RealGM fans tell it, he's completely off the table.

I've never been all that impressed with Hickson, either, relative to what Cleveland fans were claiming for him. One guy called him the next Karl Malone, whereas I felt that his early play was more a product of Lebron getting double and triple teamed than anything else. His offensive efficiency went way down after Lebron left. But if he were available for the return that you mentioned, then of course it'd be a no-brainer. I don't know why a team like Miami, which desperately needs another big man, wouldn't be willing to give even more for him.

Anyway, I'm really happy for the Sixers and Turner right now. Hopefully ET can keep on playing at this level.

A bit off topic.. I think we just made our most important trade of the season.. We traded Meeks for Turner in starting lineup.. Enough for me.. ;)

I really think we use our TPE, and try to get the best cheap big available with what we got from Speights. I think the L.Allen love affair is wearing out, if a guy like Hickson is available its a no brainer.

I hate to say this. I really hate to say this. But...

Evan just got 43 minutes. Next highest was Iguodala at 36, and then down to Thad at 33. Granted, he played very well, but that many minutes? It is possible that Doug is sipping the koolaid. Or it is Evan being showcased for a trade, right before the trade deadline. I hope not, and sorry to be the downer, but right now I would feel much safer if Evan was playing 32 minutes instead of 42.

Thats right Doug, now your playing him too much for my comfort. You can't win.

Lol.

I'm with the majority... Using a Those 2 second rounders/tpe we need a cheap big.

I wouldn't mind a Hickson rental. He's athletic and has a motor, something we lack downlow.

Sixerfan, what is the word heading in to this week?

My thoughts, Lou & Jrue are being shopped for a big & a 2.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
