Pau Gasol Traded?

Post#1 » by Ronito » Fri Mar 9, 2012 8:35 pm

Now would be a good time for the brace yourselves meme, since...

Roland Lazenby @lazenby: It seems we'll soon be getting news that Gasol has been traded. No details confirmed, but he's apparently gone.

Brace yourselves, dominoes are falling.

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA: Houston has continued to aggressively probe the Lakers on a potential Pau Gasol trade, but there's no deal close, league sources tell Y!

Houston lining up to prepare for a Dwight rental? Morey's made a move every year at the trade deadline.

Is it Pau Gasol for Deron Williams?

Because that's a trade that makes sense for both teams according to the General Board.

Gasol in a salary dump? Couldn't be true surely?!?

@freedarko: Breaking: @ericnus reports that Gasol trade is for Raymond Felton and a second-round pick.

There's rumor GSW as well.

Curry, Lee, Wright, Beans for Pau, Artest and a 1st.

Jesus, Jerry West has been retired for 40 something years and they'll have to reopen the record books to credit him with an assist.

If that deal goes down, and the Lakers do get Curry, that's...not good for the Nets.

IDK, you think they would turn around and trade Curry and Bynum for Dwight?

Lolz no it isn't. First Steve Blake would be the worst starting PG in the NBA. Secondly, there aren't enough shots for the thee good players the lakers have now which I think renders Wright irrelevant. And to be completely honest Dwight/Lee >= Bynum/Gasol. It would be a marginal upgrade at best.

1) They would still have their TPE. So let's say they don't use it on clearing more salary for the Magic, if the Lakers have that team, it isn't inconcievable for them to trade their remaning pick for Sessions.

2) Dwight/Lee/Beans is a better big man rotation than Bynum/Gasol/no one.

Andris Biedrins with his 9.5 PER and 1.9 ppg average shouldn't even be mentioned. He sucks as much as anyone the Lakers have now.

Oh, okay, yeah, I gotcha. So while there aren't enough shots to go around for people who can score, the guy who doesn't score is a terrible fit and shouldn't be mentioned, even though he would be a damn fine backup to Dwight Howard.

This is fantastic, I really hope he goes to Rockets. That would be the most ideal scenario for us, although I think a 3 team trade would be needed because other than Scola/Lowry and perhaps Budinger I don't think there's anything Houston has that LA would want

JG, it still wouldn't matter. At the end of the day, if there's any big man that Dwight would want to play with, it would be Pau.

Dwight is not going to stay just for Kobe, and especially not while he's destroying the cap situation for them.

Curry + Bynum is a deal that Orlando should take for sure (if it's presented) but that leaves Dwight with Kobe and David Lee, two overpaid cap killing players. They wouldn't be able to do anything for a few years.

David Lee makes Pau's defense look like D12's defense. Lee is horrible at defense and while he can make some outside shots, he's not going to stretch the floor like Ryan Anderson does for Dwight.

If they get Curry, Lee, and Wright, I'd take that deal in a heartbeat and build off of that. Trading for Dwight would just be a nightmare.

If Dwight is on the Lakers, he's not leaving. Especially considering everyone here is more than willing to use the "it's about more than just winning for Dwight," to support him coming to the Nets, but at the same time, use it as a crutch for why he wouldn't stay with the Lakers. Can't have it both ways. If Dwight is going to get 400 million for playing in Brooklyn for the Nets, you bet your ass he's going to be getting that same number (he won't get it at either place) in Los Angeles playing for the Lakers.
