Back to back MIP's???
WIth Pek playing the way he has lately, he has to be among the leading canididates. His scoring is up, he isnt getting in foul trouble anymore, he doesnt get the 3 second calls much now. He is learning the game and becoming a dominate force. There is NO WAY he is not considered to be the 2nd Twolves player in a row to become Most Valuable Player. Who else would be in the running? Thoughts?

Honestly I don't like the award going to players like Pek or Lin. They are basically just getting a big jump in minutes and are obviously putting up better numbers. I feel like the award should be given to a guy who has been in the league for a while and has actually elevated his play over his career norms.

I agree, but in Peks case, it isnt just the increase in minutes. He has actually learned to play MUCH better. He has learned how to play in the NBA opposed to overseas. He used to get 3 seconds called on him AT LEAST twice per game. Now I havent seen it for quite a while. Also he is not making the stupid fouls and getting into early foul trouble. He has learned how to position himself under the basket so no one can block him without fouling him. He REALLY has improved as a player and not had his numbers increase just because of more minutes.

If Jeremy Lin is available for selection, then the award is easily going to him, no doubt in my mind whatsoever. The NBA wants to appease the media, so giving a big award to their new superstar (even if he plays awful for the rest of the way) will improve sales. On the other hand, giving it to some European center who no casual fan have ever heard of on a team that was a bottomfeeder for four years straight will be a horrible marketing decision.

the MIP is selected by a panel of sportswriters, not the league.
