he was dead in the fight and then Rodrigo Nogueira gave him a favor, it wasn't Mir that created the submission, Minotauro gave it to him... Dumbest move ever, on par with Pitbull's takedown on Kampmann

Homer alert.

It's MMA, pal.

It's never over until it is over.

I hate hearing people spout that "Fighter X gave Fighter Y the fight."

No, Nog got cocky and just resumed training because he let a wounded animal off the chopping block and let Frank go to work on the ground.

Oh, wait. My memory is starting to come back.
Win 12–3 Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira TKO (punches) UFC 92 December 27, 2008 2 1:57 Las Vegas, Nevada, United States Won the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Whoops. How ever did Frank manage two "fluke" wins against Big Nog? How?

Edit: And yeah, Alves. I love the guy, but having a "mental laspe" (IE stupid moment), does not entail giving someone the fight. I'm sure Martin would tell you that drilling a guillotine over and over in the gym might actually have been something his coaches were telling him to look for in the fight. Thiago is just not a smart guy. It's his fault he lost to Kampmann, no excuses.

The first wasn't a fluke, only the last, but I really think Mir is a very good HW, but I don't see him as a top-5 anymore... I'm not a homer, Nogueira doesn't deserve to be even in the top-10 IMO... I said that thing about Mir 'cause he broke nogueira's arm and suddenly became the next HW champ, the man that would beat Overeem and JDS with an arm in his back... Do you really think he's gonna win against Cain?

Do I think he can win against Cain? Sure.

Beating Big Nog twice, negates a fluke in my opinion.

Yes, Mir is a Top 5 HW.

He's one win away from a title shot, that just the facts.

Mir is baffling to watch sometimes, but he's a gamer and always fights tough guys.

You know what? We'll see if this recent run is legit or hype, because Cain might be one of the biggest tests of his career.

Sorry to call you a homer, lol.

I understand, I've been a homer, thanks for making me know it... But, homish aside, I really think JDS, Uber, Cain, Werdum, Barnett and Cormier are all better fighters, even though Cormier and Barnett aren't in the UFC yet...

Don't worry, I have my homer moments too.
Wait until a spidery Brazilian fights, I get homery.

But year, well see. Now that they've moved all the Strikeforce HW's over, we'll get a much better idea of who's where in the Top 10 rankings.

I kind of think Overeem's a bit overrated in his MMA career, but what I do know? I'm just a fan like everyone else. I don't have to fight, so I get to be a keyboard warrior. lol

lol... Just like me, I ranked him top-5 but I think JDS's winning this fight! (not being homer, maybe!)

All Time Favorites:

Genki Sudo: Literally the reason I got into MMA. His entrances were always amazing, was always extremely exciting to watch in the ring/octagon. I just couldn't believe this guy was dancing in the middle of fights. Will always be one of my favorites.

BJ Penn: I know its become pretty cliche, but a prime BJ Penn was simply one of the most entertaining fighters of all times. It was hard for me to watch him go out the way he did. He was just an incredible talent who never had the motivation to capitalize on it. But when he was on, you knew you were watching greatness.

Rampage: I still remember the first time I saw a highlight of this guy. I scoured the net for every fight I could find. All of them were so exciting. He arguably has fought the very best competition there is. Didn't win them all, but he fought just about every LHW worth mentioning. He no longer has the heart to fight, but that doesn't change what he was.

Wanderlei Silva: Watching this guy brutalize people back in his Pride days was an almost sick and twisted pleasure. He was pure violence. His stare downs were incredible, he was literally just trembling with anticipation. He couldn't WAIT to destroy the people he was going to fight. It was awesome.

Anderson Silva: Just pure perfection in the octagon. The guy just never looks rattled in a fight. When Chael was on top of him for 4 and a half rounds, he never once looked worried. It didn't make sense. It was like he KNEW he was going to win. No one makes violence look more beautiful.

Favorites:

Melvin Guillard: Another super talented individual that will probably never put it all together. He just doesn't have the fighter IQ to do so. Still entertaining and I am always supporting him.

Yves Edwards: Another guy that never put it all together. At least not in his prime. He took too long to go to a real camp. You will not improve if you are constantly the best fighter at your camp. Never was pushed by his training partners.

Josh Koscheck: Yeah I know I am in the minority here. But I like how the guy carries himself, and I like how he has developed into a more well rounded fighter. He has improved as much if not more than any other fighter over their respective careers.

Lyoto Machida: Just love watching the guy fight. Always humble, and borderline masterful in the octagon. I remember that streak he was on, where he didn't just look unbeatable, he literally looked untouchable. He looked like no one had a chance in hell in beating him.

Mark Hunt: Another guy who I love watching fight. Extremely limited, but always enjoyable. One of the best chins in MMA and another hilarious dude.

Gina Carano:

Nuff said.

Fighters I dislike:

GSP: Some may think the way he fights is amazing and dominant, but I can't stand watching it. Maybe I am not a "purist" but I do not enjoy watching him smother someone of jab someone to victory. He does as little as possible to win. He is a great fighter, but I hate watching him fight.

Jon Jones: Another dominant fighter that I dislike. I recognize and accept his talents and ability, but dislike the way he carries himself. Has a real "Lebron" like quality to him. He also has the personality of a rock. Amazing talent, but not someone I could ever cheer for.

Frank Mir: Just the biggest douche bag in the sport lol. Could never pull for him in any match.

Cheick Kongo: Knee more people in the balls ass clown.
