Official Speculation Thread (Pt XV: Trade Deadline cont.)
I'm starting to think we're going to be the Cavs this time next year. Let's hope our next GM knows how to draft.

If Dwight is gone, we need to trade him so we can suck enough to draft Kendall Marshall.

I'm just curious... because I never really understood what happened... was Otis really going to sign off on a trade for Dwight to NJ (with Portland involved, I think we got Wallace in return)? That deal was horrendous.
After hearing what Otis just said about Dwight staying here after the deadline being a 50-50 chance, my stomach feel nauseous thinking that he's going to pull off a horrendous deal that will set this franchise back for years... I really hope Martins is on top of Otis' decisions every minute.

We'd rather not have a lotto pick in a stacked draft.

Here is my problem. Devos doesn't want to rebuild...at all. So we stay pat and rebuild in a 3 year timespan? That's even if we successfully rebuild to be a contender in what? 5 years from now.
I just don't know what to believe anymore

Wasn't there a rumor saying if the Magic got rid of Howard in a trade, or Howard leaves during the summer, that RDV will sell the team. I swear I read that somewhere a few times.

Best case scenario, we go CLE route.. one year of just abysmal basketball, good draft pick so next year it's a little more exciting still no playoffs, the next year you make it into the 6-8th spot, next year you back to maybe top five in the east.

This.
No one knows anything, and that's how it is. No one knows if Dwight will stay or go, and no one knows if we'll make another trade.

yeah it's been just a big mess the past few months... I honestly can't wait until Friday... so we can just be settled with the direction we're taking... either we're keeping Dwight and taking a chance on him staying this summer, or we're trading him. We'll find out the 15th. I'm just sick and tired of all this crap.

I wonder if the Magic thought of a Duhon/Clark for Jamison. Better yet, Sessions and Jamison for Meer, Clark, Orton or Harper.

Sessions ($4mil)+ Jamison($15mil) is like $19mil in salary. Duhon Clark is about $5mil Meer+Orton+Clark+Harper is about $12mil or so. dont think either works as we cant bring in that kind of salary.

Everyone just needs to relax and wait to see what happens. I along with all of you don't have any faith in Otis but things could turn out for the positive somehow someway which is what I'm hoping. Martins is the key in all of this because I think Otis is now his puppet...

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt XV: Trade Deadline cont.
I know I will most likely get scolded for this, but if we have the same team come deadline and you KNOW Dwight has a very very slim chance to stay with us, would you pull the trigger on a trade for Bynum. Now you can throw in a third team, to get a pick or what not, but the centerpiece is Bynum. (Bynum + Gasol, I would do now, but I know the Lakers won't bite)
I know he has knee issues, but if you can manage through the rigors of this season which are breaking down the best of players, it definitley says something.
The way the team is constructed, we have way too much money invested to even go out and get free agents. We won't be viable in this year's draft cuz our pick will suck. This team is constructed for a center, and if we can't keep the best one, the second best one is not too bad of an option.
Before I get crucified, the only conditions I say we do this under is
1. Otis makes no other trades to better the team
2. Dwight still won't say anything in regards to his future
I've been watching Bynum over the past few games, and although he takes years to get down the floor and is not a defensive powerhouse, his offense is quite polished. He gets boards, and picks up blocks. Look, I KNOW he's not Dwight, but if we can in the mean time clear some cap and keep Bynum+Anderson, we might have a chance at forming quite a formidable team. Also that team is horrendous at getting him the ball. I THINK* he might be able to average 20/10 numbers, barring injury.
And YES I am a Magic fan. I'm just bringing this up, because as time keeps ticking, our chances for keeping Howard are becoming slimmer especially w/ no way to re-up the team.

where would we of been if we never did the phx trade and got to amnesty lewis and carter's contract expired.
that is SO depressing...
Pietrus would have expired too. Bass most likely would have opted out of his deal. and we'd have still had Gortat for trade packages.

50-50, to me, sounds like it's between us and Brooklyn.
*edit - i take this back. i hate the way this team is currently constructed. no band-aids will get it into the ECFs of finals. we need a major change at PG and SF for a legit playmaker and a solid wing defender.
heck, i'd take Felton/Wallace over Jameer/Hedo right now, just to shake things up.

don't forget VC's expiring... I honestly believe CP3 would be in a Magic uniform if we had Gortat + VC's expiring + (and filler) to sent to NOH during the summer.

Bynum has a bruised right knee atm... but he's playing through it coming out of half-tme.
