OT: NCAA Tournament Thread
Thought we would get a new thread going with the selection show today. I think Marquette gets a 3 and Badgers a 4. A couple teams I do not want to face in round 1 are Long Beach State and Wichita State.

Re: OT: NCAA Tournament Thread
Wichita State was a top 5 seed in most bracketologies I saw. I saw them as a 5. I think they lost their conference tournament, so like a 6?
EDIT: Lundardi has them at a 5. Could be a second round opponent.

Yahoo has Marquette as the first 3 seed playing Ohio and Wisconsin as the third 4 seed playing Long Beach State.

Re: OT: NCAA Tournament Thread
I'm doing an auction with some friends this year. First time doing it...anyone do it?
First set of rules we adopted were:
-Everyone puts in $50 (10 or 11 of us).
-Your budget is $50 and you buy teams.
-Each team can only be owned by one person. You can own 1 team or you can own 10.
-Losing Sweet 16 was I think 2.5% of the pot, losing Elite 8 4.5%, losing Final 4 8.5%, losing Championship 15%, winning championship 30%
However, we changed it up because I saw a little bit more of this action online:
-Budget is between $25 and $100
-13-16 seeds are grouped. You can buy "13-16 seed Phoenix"
1% for a first round win.
1.5% for a second round win.
2.5% for a third round win.
3% for a fourth round win.
4% for a fifth round win.
4% for a championship win.
There are other small rules. The changed set made it so every team in the tournament was intriguing. Also, the market sets itself in the second format. In the first one, buying Kentucky was your best value no matter what. In this one, it depends what everyone else pays. If you buy Kentucky for $50 and the pot is $500, you'll only net about +$25 if they win it all. If the pot is larger, you could actually lose money on them.
I'm having a hard time deciding which to go with. Set 2 of rules makes an insane value/reward decision process but option 1 is a little more simple to go with.
This is one of the sites that convinced me:

Although I can appreciate Davis trying to show off that he has a jumpshot, he does not need to be shooting three pointers.

Pointless to speculate on match-ups yet. Don't know Marquette's seed, Ohio's seed, either one's region, etc.
Marquette should be a 4-seed and Wisconsin right with them. Not a lot of heavy hitters, the Top 25 should show well in the seeding but there are some good teams from non-power schools.

Marquette should in no way shape or form be a 4 seed.

The instant analysis/predictions get worse and worse. Yeah, how about that Kentucky/UCONN matchup in round 3 Greg Anthony? Christ.
Go Bucks!

Re: OT: NCAA Tournament Thread
They got the last 3 seed, so they were close to a 4 FWIW.

Marquette got a pretty good draw for being the last 3.

The two "undersized" teams in a potential 2/3 matchup of Mizzou and Marquette.

I like Marquette's draw and a Marquette/Mizzou game would be a lot of fun to watch.

Re: OT: NCAA Tournament Thread
Not that I'm assuming they'll get there, but the Badgers could easily get a rematch with UNC in round 3. I've always wanted to see them play Syracuse, so that's a chance right now as well for round 3 (or 4, technically now).

Re: OT: NCAA Tournament Thread
I also imagine Marquette will be playing BYU, they aren't too bad, third team out of the WCC.
