Your Best J-Smoove Trade ideas

I gotta admit, Josh Smith is playing out of his mind right now! Making it tougher for me to keep advocating for a trade, except that...

we're still just 5-5 in that span.

Also, he's averaging 22 ppg 10 rpg and 2 bpg while shooting 43% from the field. That is abysmal for a PF who should be living in the paint.

Either way, we're not winning with him playing at an extremely high rate, and he is our most valuable asset. (His value is rising by the day, btw.)

Superiorblogman put together a dozen or so viable trade ideas. Though I normally disagree with 85% of what he says, quite a few of these were pretty good and deserve some additional attention.

Now, the trade for Okafor and Kaman gives us the deepest most intimidating front line in the East once Horford comes back. Okafor provides the shot blocking presence we lose with Smoove gone AND he's big/strong enough to guard centers. He's got a modest array of post moves which could pair well with Horford mid-range shooting. Kaman provides depth. With all that said, the lottery pick is probably the biggest draw here.
The biggest drawback is, obviously, injury concern.

The trade for Nash and Gortat is all about making a run this season and then (again) gaining a lottery pick for the future once Nash leaves, which he inevitably will. With Hinrich and Nash gone after the season, we free up a fair amount of cap space and rebuild with Gortat, Horford and JJ as our mainstays for the next few years.
Drawback: nash as a rental for 3 months.

1. We forgo capspace with this scenario, but we end up with the best backcourt in the NBA.
With Teague and our 1st round pick, we have a package that could net us a lottery pick in trade. Downside: We lose all semblance of frontcourt depth as we have no starting caliber Center or PF.

2. With this trade we have one of the best 1-2 punches in the league at both wing positions. Throw in Teague and you have a team full of scorers that could score with the best trios in the league.
Downside: Again, we lose frontcourt depth and our offensive philosphy would have to be re-schemed with so many guys who need the ball to be a threat.

4. I just really like Bargnani paired up with AL for protection. We end up with two scorers consistently capable of putting up 20+ ppg. One of whom fulfills the role of post scorer which we haven't had since...Abdur-Rahim? Also, we get free of Marvin.
Downside: Bargnani is NOT particularly tough in the paint, tough defensively or...tough at all.
Neither of these guys are impressive defensively and neither has proven to be able to win consistently.

The way Smith is playing I'd do the second trade if it's a 2012 unprotected pick, we'd need to get a good PG in the draft, I'm thinking we use the lotto to pick up a C and use our pick to get Marquis Teague. The first one also has to be unprotected but I don't think they'll go for 2012 unprotected, maybe 2013, or maybe they give Minnesota's pick this year it's more valuable with Rubio going down. Other than than these aren't bad ideas.

On this list I don't touch number 4, we don't need a scoring Center that chucks we need a good Defensive rebounding Center, Bargnani doesn't rebound for and his defense is average at best. Number 2 is interesting as we get an all-star caliber player who can take over in Granger, and number is alright as well
