YBR broke that something was going down with Warriors and Hornets. Then Rudolph tweeted almost the same thing except he came out with specifics. YBR said what he heard didn't involve Turk and that's news to him.

I agree. but, if Ryan gets us Monta I'd do it.

If that trade went down, wonder if we can then flip Meer, BBD and a 1st rd pick for J Smith ?

Ellis/Ish
J Rich/Liggins
Wright/Clark
J Smith/Harper
D12/Biedrins

That would be great, but very unlikely.

I personally think he could do it. but, it sucks that we'd lose Hedo's playmaking, just in case Ellis making plays doesn't work.

Two thoughts on this one:
1. It sucks worse that we're losing JJ's playmaking. Hedo looks lazy, disengaged, and slow most of the time. If you watched last night's game, it's pretty clear that JJ paired with Dwight is a great PNR combo. Of all the players rumored to be included in this deal, I think JJ is the one we miss the most.

2. Monta is averaging around 6 assists per game, he's a good passer, but definitely not a "true" point guard. I still think you go for it. Pairing him with a great center might allow him to elevate his game even further.

Nothing is happening until it happens. From what I've seen, Magic and Hornets have agreed and are just waiting for GS to accept. Orlando wants to make this happen today and Dwight has chatted with Ellis today.

Also, Magic FO talked about re-aquiring CLEE. FWIW

From what was said YBR on TBN broke it first and then Jarrod Rudolph after.

Official Speculation Thread (Pt XVI: Trade Deadline cont.)

Some people don't realize this trade doesn't just give us Monta, it will more than likely give us Dwight. Wright is nothing to scoff at, and Biedrins is a legit backup center. So it's essentially Getting Dwight/Ellis/Biedrins/Wright for JJ/Anderson/Hedo/Q. Pretty damn good deal.

We're getting rid of Turk but he's a better player than Biedrens. Ellis is good but not worth JJ, Ryan, and Turk in my opinion. Dorrell for Q is about even. Biedrens is an expensive bench warmer. The only good player is Ellis.

Dorrell is way better than Q at this point.
We know that Turk is better than Biedrins, but his contract is awful, some posters were just trading D12 to get ride of him, for exemple. And btw, we lack a true backup at center and Andris can provide it, he is a good backup, the only problem with him is his contract, but we can live with it.

Everyone would prefer to trade Jrich instead of JJ, but it isnt how it works, the others teams prefer JJ too, we have to give something good to get something good. No one will give an all-star for free.

So if this goes down, Otis has definitely done his job of putting together a team with some of the worst contracts the NBA has to offer. Congratulations Otis. It was only fitting that your final trade was with the Warriors.

This. Getting Monta will get Dwight to stay here.

All besids Biedrins being legit. Dude is awful.

I actually didn't watch last night's game, so, that's good to hear about JJ. I was honestly gonna miss him the most anyway, he was drafted here as a cocky kid, and now he's such a professional. Ryan's good and all, but, JJ will be the most missed Magician by more people IMO.

Basically it is:
Orton for free, but he would be gone nway next summer.
Ryan + JJ for Ellis + Dorrell
Hedo + Q for Biedrins (contracts swap)

Thats a very good trade, IMO.

Then we can go for a starter at 4 by trading BBD and Nelson.

i think this deal is subtly great because it gets Hedo off the team at the same time.

i'm not too ecstatic about BBD playing full time at PF. i can't begin to imagine how many shots he'll try to get off...

Why not ? Meer is an upgrade over Teague/Hinrich, they get a PF in return and a 1st rd pick.
