I think that's the reason why a lot of people are excited for a Bogut trade.

I agree. He has a Ray Allen-type of love for the city and the fans. Not comparing players, but it was just unique to have a high-potential player not only willing to play in Milwaukee but also but 100K worth of tickets. He always said the right thing and tried to play the game the right way. Team work and defense, though he was a little soft.

I am 20 years old and started following the Bucks/NBA during Boguts rookie year. He and Ilyasova are the only two remaining players since I have started watching. I am sad, but it's time to move on.

I will miss Bogut. There was nothing soft about his defense or team work. The guy busted his ass for this organization, and they rewarded him by playing him all last year in a misguided playoff push, as his arm dangled and bounced from his side like a tyranasarus. A real organization would have shut him down around the all star break, and praised him in the press for risking his health for the team.

There have not been a lot of Bucks that I had a personal affection for. But Bogut would be on the list, along with Ray Allen.

I was saying soft as in more offensively, but agree with your post.

I dont want him to go... Skiles and Jennings can dip.

He's had his injuries but he's a top 5 center when healthy... And we're gonna get poop as a return and we all know it.

The question you have to ask yourself with Bogut is what his next two years in the league look like.

I do not think it looks like 2010 FTD or even last year as the one-armed defensive stopper. I think it looks more like a big space eater ala prime Magloire. A guy who puts up his 13/10/2 with good defense and plays about 60 games a year. And even if you think he returns to form, you still have these issues to deal with:

-mysterious changing shooting percentage, whether from the field or the FT line.

-missing of games due to a variety of reasons

-Having to worry about him being injured playing for the Australian National team.

-Starting one year from now, having to worry about re-signing him and for what dollar amount since his contract will be up 24-months from now

I'm not advocating trading Bogut for junk. But I think you have to ask yourself what he's bringing to the table in a re-positioned Bucks roster over the next two seasons.

Can we save the Bogut sob stories for AFTER he gets traded?

I love you Press, but you and and 9/10 of the posters are going to flop on this a year from now and post nostalgically about how much you miss Bogut.

I appreciate that you actually listed reasons. So far, the most common line of thinking for this trade is "its time for change."

The thing that cracks me up about this board, is that most posters have the attitude towards the Bucks that "it can't get worse" and it can and will.

I won't "be happy" to see him go, but I won't necessarily miss him either. He wasn't on the court consistently enough to remain a steady presence. And one of the most frustrating things to watch over the Bogut Era was a "pube game".

And for good reason. If you pick up last year's #2 overall draft pick, plus a solid guard, plus an emerging big, you don't need to tank!!! For god's sake, some of you won't ever be satisfied until the Bucks go 0-82 in a desperate attempt to be as bad as possible for as long as possible.

Having said all of that, there's no way MN trades Williams, Luke R and Peks for Bogut.

We're going to miss having a legit real life center. That's what we will miss. Because most likely what will happen is that we will focus our assets on obtaining a much better PG, SG, PF, SF. And then we'll be short a presence in the middle.

We will not miss having Bogut specifically tabbed as a game changing impact player that is labeled by the front office as our best player. Our front office has wasted a lot of years going under the assumption that Bogut should be providing a lot more than he is capable of. Time to kick away the crutch.

And I have no doubt Bogut might experience a career renaissance once he's gone. Especially if he is traded to a much stronger team. But it wasn't going to happen here.

I can't believe people are being suckered into wanting to make the playoffs again.

Can't believe how many people were suckered into thinking that Bucks were tanking this season. The organisation was never tanking. A blind freddy could see that.

The problem is Bogut will never be fully healthy again. Its time for him to hit the road.

I'm curious about why you say he won't be even the Bogut of last year, are you basing that on the impact of the ankle injury?
