What is Presti's most prized draft pick?

Post#1 » by wiff » Tue Mar 13, 2012 3:13 am

Let's be honest the Durant pick was a no brainer.

I'm not knocking the guy but Portland did all the dirty work with that one. They dropped him in your lap.

But obviously this team is much more than just Durant.

So who do you think is Presti's most prized draft pick?

Russel Westbrook

drafted 4th 2008 behind Rose, Beasley and Mayo. Before Love, Gallinari and Gordon. A lot of people felt he was a stretch at that pick.

Serge Ibaka

drafted 24th in 2008 also. Serge was a very good late first round find.

James Harden

3rd in the 2009 draft behind Blake Griffin and Thabeet, but ahead of Reke and Curry. Has really been improving.

But between these three who do you think Presti is most proud of?

Westbrook.

Even though a lot will say Ibaka cause of how late in the draft he was taken, Westbrook is obviously the best player on the team outside of Durant, and he was considered more of a reach than any other pick he has taken.

Presti is just the man. That's all there is to it.

Westbrook, I don't think many people thought he would turn into this good of a player ever, and he is only 23 and still has room to grow.

Gotta go with Russell; there weren't many people willing to take him as early as Presti did. Well played.

Russ of course. I remember when people ranked Russ the worst of top 5 in the draft.

I wanted Westbrook & Harden. Ibaka is a guy who came out of no where. I think you have to look at where he selected the individual and where they came from.

Ibaka is hands down Presti most prized pick.

It's Durant.

Durant was his first selection as a GM. Durant was the foundation stone from which everything else has been built. Durant is a great representative of the franchise.

Since Presti does the same amount of work every draft, the element of luck doesn't make a difference to Presti.

Harden was one of the only two serious options considered at that point with Rubio, and Ibaka was kind of... lucky, really. Westbrook was considered a reach and he just totally nailed that pick.

See I believe his most prized draft pick is Westbrook also which also leads me to believe Presti would be very reluctant on trading him.

I mean if everyday you went to work and there was something that you were responsible for and it made you feel smarter than everyone else or just made you feel really good down to your core or even both would you be hot to get rid of it? Even if someone offered up something really good for it would you want to part with it?

I know for myself someone would have to offer the moon for me to consider letting go of my best work. After all we are all human and we like to be around people and things that make us feel good about ourselves.

That's why I just don't see Presti shopping Westbrook....ever.
