I would throw in the Higgins as a bonus.

Would you rather Farmer at $4 mil or DJA at $4 mil next season?

should it be Farmer and result of Houston pick or DJA???

Also surely DJA will get more than 4 Mill.

Finally, if we are intent on starting Kemba than I think I would prefer Farmer as I think he would accept backing up more than DJA

That's assuming that no one offers DJ a contract above 4 that we decide not to match. Based on all the rumored interest in DJ, I would bet a team offers more than 4. Plus I actually think that next year Kemba will be ready and Farmar is a good back-up for him and also can better allow the two to play together because he is bigger.

Farmar is only averaging a point less and 2 assists less while shooting better from 3 (44%) with almost 10 minutes less a game. DJ is probably the better player, but there isn't much drop off and for the size Farmar brings and the fact he will play off the bench, I would almost take Farmar even not including other factors.

Ignoring other factors, I would take DJA. Most likely a team will offer DJA a long term > $6mm/yr. I'm not sure the bobcats will commit to DJA for that price,

If the Knicks continue to implode would anyone have any interest at all in trading for Melo? Not saying he is on the market, just asking the question.

Forget what it might cost (that is a whole other conversation) but who would be ok with Melo and his contract as our starting SF?

Now for that other converstaion, what it would cost:

Obviously we wouldn't give up this years pick so it would have to be things like Diaw, Kemba, Hendo and some future 1st's. Would that get it done?

It is, but you really don't think a team would be willing to throw more than 4 mill at DJ? I'm betting he could get 6-8 from a team and be a starter for the length of the contract. If he gets any kind of offer over 4 per, I seriously doubt the Bobcats match.

As for the Melo trade. It is interesting. I really don't think too favorable of Melo, and I really don't like how he plays. I don't like his attitude either. However, he is a star that would change the course of this team. I seriously doubt he would come here without pouting and being pissed, though, and if that were the case I don't think I would want him. If he came to grips with it, and embraced Charlotte and MJ, then sure. As for compensation, NY would want Kemba, I'm sure. But I'm not sure we would have the pieces outside of that, UNLESS we included the first over-all pick this year. I doubt they would have much interest in Hendo since they have JR Smith and Fields. If we did Kemba, Diaw, plus THIS YEARS First, I even wonder if that would be enough for them to take it.

Heck, looking at that deal I'm not even sure if I wouldn't rather just keep Kemba and that pick....

I love the trade. What is the worse that can happen ? The Rockets make the playoffs the next two years, and we end up with a #2. Remember who we are trading guys. The thought of having a second top 20 pick is worth the risk of loosing our #2 this year for nothing. Then think about the ultimate scenario. Imagine we bring in a third team to take on DJ and this second pick. I'd say DJ and a first round pick should command a top 10 pick. Maybe one high enough for old man Harrison ?

Assuming this is the trade;
Boris Diaw to New Jersey for Johan Petro, Jordan Farmar, and Houstons 1st. The Bobcats would then have to waive someone or include someone like Higgins in that trade. I just don't see the bad of that. Farmar would be an expiring contract young PG coming off a pretty good season. Either we keep DJ and try to move Farmar or we lose DJ and keep Farmar as a backup. I would hope that getting Petro sets up an amnesty on Diop.

A trade that I think should really happen. Trade DJ White to Sacramento for JJ Hickson. Both guys are young. Hickson hasn't really fit with the Kings, losing DJ White isn't a big deal for Charlotte. Basically both teams take a long look at new PFs before each player hits free agency this year.

i for one am in favor of both of those trades, and the waiving of someone at the bottom of the roster that would be needed to facilitate them. hickson would be the kind of "hang around the rim and put back ORB's" player that the bobcats have rarely, if ever, had.

Tony Parker wants Diaw in San Antonio. He says Boris is in shape? Says NY wants Diaw too?

Round is a shape... anywho neither one of these teams have anything to give and most likely are waiting on a buyout

Dittos on both the Jersey and Sacramento ideas, and a big no to anything relative to Melo.

First and foremost, a Melo move is completely outside THE PLAN. I think the Knicks are having some moderate regrets about the Melo transaction (and maybe Amare also). Granted the chemistry isn't meshing, but I don't think Melo's game is bringing them significant returns. He would be miserable in CLT, and it would warp everything Cho & MJ are working toward.

I think other players in the league know that Doris is sulking his productivity to facilitate a trade or buyout so he can get to a winning team. He's not great athlete, but I bet he becomes ubber-motivated if he gets outta here....at least for the rest of this season. For frenchie that sets up perfectly...he could go on a mini-tear to re-establish his value on a winning team, get a new +$$ contract and then go on lazy mode again.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'm not surprised NY wants him, but they want him after he is bought out I would guess. Tony Parker and Boris have the connection from France, so I'm not sure how deep that would run in terms of San Antonio actually being interested. I'm sure their interest would run along the same lines as NY's, interested if we buy him out. Only feasible trade with them would be Jefferson for Diaw, which we would not want to do.

Let's get Kwahi!!

Then trade DJA and Hendo for another lottery pick and get Barnes, Beal or Lamb.

Kemba - Barnes/Beal/Lamb - Kwahi - Davis - Biz

Drool!!

What do you all say about Odom + 2nd(expiring bc Team Option 2013) for Diaw and $3m TPE for Najera.

The

Diaw
for
Farmer, Petro and the Rockets 1st round pick

is MUCH easier to get behind than DJA for the same package IMO. That way we could still hope to flip DJA for something of value - maybe another 2012 or 2013 1st round pick?
