One More Day Before Larry's Famous words
We tried but couldn't get anything done. We tried but the NBA office didn't answer the phone in time. What Larry should be saying is. I dont know what the F""""k I'm doing and if the owner was smart. He would fire me now before its to late.

Hopefully it's something along the lines of "Danny was a great contributor but I felt like it was the right time for him and the organization to go their separate ways. AND MAN DID I FUDGE UP ON THE COLLISON TRADE! But, now I feel like we have the right point guard to go forward with."

Uh Larry Bird has been, overall, a great GM? And has taken a team from bad/mediocre to good/young/deep/cap-friendly in a few short years.

Just give me a PG, or an explosive scorer. Please. Anyone but George can go.

Re: One More Day Before Larry's Famous words
Bird and Morway have done an excellent job of restructuring this organization away from the 4th highest payroll to what we have now. Anyone who thinks differently has just come on board. Now we have a team on the cusp of contention, but let's be honest, before the season, nobody predicted much more than a possible first round victory in the playoffs. So to bitch about them not being elite, when they are right where we predicted (4-6th seed) is a little hypocritical. If anyone predicted 3 or higher I'd like to see it.
We have desirable players up & down the lineup, so much so that we can talk Rondo, Smith, and Hordford in trades. It's not nearly as bad as I2TW makes it out to be. The fact we're in so many trade proposals dispels any notion our roster is subpar.
With all that said, I hope Bird announces that we've made multiple trades before the deadline.

New Orleans is the team that "fudged up." We got Collison for Troy Murphy. I would have traded Murphy for a pack of cigarettes, and I don't even smoke.

We took on Posey's deal. We'd have been better off trading Murphy for a 2nd and a TPE. Both would contribute more than Collison. The only team who came out good in that trade was Houston.

We're nowhere close to contention.

Fans talk about Rondo, Smith, and Horford. We had a chance at Rondo, but that is more likely gone since Granger, Collison, and Hansbrough have all been bad this year.

You can't really call the Collison trade a mess up, we got rid of Troy Murphy's $10 million expiring contract for a PG with upside on a rookie contract.

He has no upside. We traded a large expiring for a bad contract we ended up amnestying and a scrub on a rookie contract. A 2nd and a TPE would've have been better.

Keep talking, he's gonna come out and triple-double against the Blazers.

Re: One More Day Before Larry's Famous words
First off, Larry and David, indeed, made a wonderful job overhauling this roster.
We're young, could be inexperienced but not overrated. We're still watching these kids grow into men, and i don't think we've seen their ceilings yet.
I wouldn't want to break the core, and i'm not expecting a trade either. We could be looking for that frontcourt help via free agency.

Re: One More Day Before Larry's Famous words
Larry can't be termed a great GM until he actually gets this ship completely righted. We still have a couple giant missing pieces.
However, he's nowhere near a bad GM. He's cleared a ton of cap space, and set us up for flexibility going forward, all without paying out the nose in giving up 1st round picks. He had patience, and it's paid off.
I'd say, he's a good GM, with the chance to ultimately be very good or great. Unless he messes up this trade deadline (and no, not making a move would not "mess up this deadline"....I mean unless he acquires Stephen Jackson, MWP, or Andray Blatche without also getting Vesely and a 1st as well), he's not going to be seen as a "bad" GM.

REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY FOR THE WIN!
Collison in his last five games - 31.2mpg/7pts/3.8assts/2.2tos on 35% shooting from the floor.
I don't know what more he has to do for some of you to see that he's a bad basketball player.
He's done well against Jrue Holiday in the past. Maybe you'll finally see him not be terrible, IDK. I wouldn't count on it. I hope Holiday doesn't abuse him, because with the way Turner has been playing we'll need Paul on him most of the game.

Re: One More Day Before Larry's Famous words
News of Dwight Howard's decision to stay with the Magic through the 12-13 season has opened up trade talk between teams on other deals.
The Pacers have had multiple scenarios on hold and the Bobcats also have multiple trade scenarios for Boris Diaw.

Saw this on wiretap. Wouldn't be surprised if we eventually end up getting Diaw.

Oh no.
A soon-to-be 30-year-old player who is a tweener and has motivation issues. Trading him for a 2nd round pick would be fine, but who knows if that will be enough.

It's astonishing if you honestly believe that. Do you really believe that Hibbert, West and George are the sole reason the Pacers are competing for a 3 seed? If so, I'm convinced you have no idea what you're talking about.
38.3pts - Granger, Collison and Hansbrough
37.5pts - Hibbert, West and George
Two bad starters and a bad bench player are outscoring the other three starters on a winning team. How on earth can you call them bad? That's absolutely ridiculous.
Hopefully it's something along the lines of "Danny was a great contributor but I felt like it was the right time for him and the organization to go their separate ways. AND MAN DID I FUDGE UP ON THE COLLISON TRADE! But, now I feel like we have the right point guard to go forward with."
smh... Doesn't it get old bashing Granger/Collison and demanding they be traded? It's like 50% of your posts. I will literally laugh if we keep both and get rid of Stephenson. Your head might explode.

If we could get him for just late future picks, it wouldn't be bad. Acquiring him for nothing would still be an upgrade.

Re: One More Day Before Larry's Famous words
you can't coach height and you can't coach speed. Collison is not the problem although George Hill sure makes us better. if we make a deal tonight or tomorrow, we'll probably be the third or fourth team in a big trade taking a contract and getting paid a draft pick to do so. a center would be my first choice and a wing would be my second choice. point guard would be a distant third as I don't expect to be offered an all star and short of that I think we can be patient with DC, AJ, George, and Lance.
