How is Enes Kanter doing?

Post#1 » by FAH1223 » Tue Mar 13, 2012 7:19 pm

Wiz fan here. I was wondering how the Turkish big fella was doing this season? How's his defense and rebounding? Is his touch around the basket there and is his J falling in the limited minutes he's played?

He was atop of my draft board back in June and I was so pissed on draft day when I heard on the radio from work that the Czech Republic embassy staff was at Verizon Center which meant Jan Vesley would be the pick and no trades would follow  Jan can't shoot, rebound, or put the ball on the floor... all he can do is dunk, dunk, hustle, and play decent on ball defense and pick and rolle defense... but that's about it.

JaVale McGee for #2 was being discussed a lot, if you all remember.

Anyway, just inquiring. Good luck on making the playoffs... or tanking, I'm not sure which you guys prefer. :P

Kanter is already an elite rebounder at the NBA level. He's amazing in pick and roll defense as well.

Offensively, he's getting there. The speed of the NBA really caught him off guard. He's been showing good improvement though, and has been slowly working his way out from the post.

He's got a long way to go, but he's ahead of schedule from where I originally thought he'd be by this part of the season.

He just needs more minutes to work. Especially the last few games, he's been given very few opportunities to work.

Coach Corbin wont play him ...since the owner wants to win and refuses to ......tank by playing the younger guys.

Kanter is a great rebounder. He is not the typical rookie who is weak and needs to lift weights.....he never gets shoved around.....is very strong and fights underneath during every rebound.

The NBA game is fast....very fast. He needs to improve his moves and fundementals to get the3 advatage he has had his entire life.

He is a good team play with a great attitude! Elite rebounder.

He's completely out of gas right now, the rigors of a 66 game NBA season have worn him down.

He's going to be good going forward though, he appears to be a very hard worker.

He's decent when he's in hook range. I think he's missed every shot I've seen him take outside of that.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

One of the best rebounders I have ever seen for a rookie. Great nose for the ball. Will eventually be able to hit the 15 foot shot with consistently and has decent post up moves and foot work. He needs to get in better shape. He is in college level shape not NBA shape. Summer league and a good workout schedule will help him out alot for next year. He does lack leaping ability and gets his shot blocked way too many times. The biggest suprise from him has been his defense. He uses his big body extremely well on defense and plays hard defense without fouling.

He will be a very good NBA center but his lack of leaping (athletic) ability will stop him from being a superstar like Shaq was.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Hands are terrific for rebounds, not as good with passes.

Kanter's mid range game is coming along. He's just got to get used to the speed. He's going to be a double double machine for years. I'd bet my left nut on it. He'll be Marcin Gortat on steroids, with a Big Z jumper and quickness, with more strength and increasingly soft hands. It's a speed issue, you can see it. He's a beast. And I was on the Knight wagon.

I didn't get to watch the whole game tonight, but, I did see Kanter out there one play. He got the ball about 14 feet from the basket and his defender sagged off him like 5 feet. Kanter didnt' shoot the ball. That's a VERY good look. He's got no confidence in his jumper.

Not sure if it was the same play or not, but there was one where Kanter didn't even LOOK at the basket. He turned away from the basket completely looking for the hand-off. He's got to at least PRETEND he's a threat from there.

I'm with you here. He's going to be a legit star. He's just looked a little gassed the past few games but he played very well tonight overall. A few mistakes here and there.

Thats what happens when u get benched for missing shots or play only 15 mins a game, corbin killed his confidence, how do you except him to trust his shot and improve his game with a coach like that ?
