Brandon Marshall to Chicago Bears

Post#1 » by JustAwesome » Tue Mar 13, 2012 8:07 pm

The Chicago Bears have traded away two third round draft picks (one in 2012 and one in 2013) to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

As I tweeted:
I like B. Marshall but it says a lot that two WR-needy teams have dealt him away in his prime.

When a deal seems too good to be true it probably is.

He has issues for sure but him and Cutler love each other and bates has a good relationship. Plus two third rounders it is a no brainier.

Cliff Levingston heard something about Peyton Manning not liking Marshall? Could that be a driver in the Phins trading him away from (seemingly) a fairly low price?

I think this comes more from the coach than anything Peyton-driven. But he's certainly not a Peyton kind of guy either and it does conveniently free up some nice $$ for Reggie Wayne. And Eric Winston.

You gotta love Marshall though, 83/1100 in two off years. Reuniting him with Cutler has got to revive his TD receptions no? I mean it does seem cheap for Marshall, but for the Bears this is a legitimate wide out and something that have needed for quite some time now.

You are about to sign Jason Campbell as your backup QB. Nice move.

It's being reported that the Dolphins are making room for Peyton Manning & Reggie Wayne, as Icness pointed out.

Also, I'm not too worried about Marshall. He's being reunited with both Cutler & Jeremy Bates. The icing on the cake for us will be if we sign Mario Williams.

Trading for a top flight wide receiver means that there's one less excuse for Lovie Smith.

Great deal for the Bears. Marshall couldn't have landed in a better situation.

Campbell is an excellent pickup as well.

Whats your twitter handle? I'm trying to follow as many NFL analysts as I can this crazy time

Also if MIA don't get Manning this will go down as a godawful move.

There might be more to the story behind the Marshall trade. Might not have anything to do with Manning at all.

Reggie Wayne stays in Indy, wow. I thought for sure he was going to MIA.

Some of the Miami cap is going to Eric Winston, he'll eventually sign there. His brother works for the team and he's a local.

I really like the Jason Campbell signing. Aside from being a more competent reserve than Hanie, he's a guy that can pressure Cutler without pressuring, if you know what I mean. Sort of what Kitna did for Romo. He'll make the defense better too running the scout team in practice.

Me too. The link that Schefter provided in his tweet is this: More shortly at http://ESPN.com.

It's not showing the info yet. I assume that they are confirming things before they post it on their page.
