Houston and Philly have made a trade.

In it Houston trades Jennings (3,179,493) Pierce (16,790,345) and Meyers Leonard ($1,823,280) for Harrison Barnes (4,602,720) Okafor (13,790,000) and Biedrins (9,000,000)

Trade is set up as 2 parts:
Jennings for Barnes
{works as (3,179,493 * 1.5 = 4769239.5 > 4,602,720}

Pierce and Leonard for Okafor and Biedrins
{works as $18,613,625 + 5m = 23,613,625 > 22,790,000}

Houston does this, although Houston isn't sure that the value isn't horrendous.

Confirmed. Pierce is 18/5/5 on above average defense and he is just a smart player. Picks his spots, moves the ball and can take over in the 4th. Jennings is having arguably his best year and will likely move to a team in need of a PG. Leonard is one of the best center prospects in the draft. We also move two iffy contracts in Beans and Okafor.

Houston and Memphis have a deal:

Evan Fournier (942,700) for Courtney Lee (6,250,000). Memphis is below the cap and can absorb it. Houston takes a TPE of 5,307,300.

Houston does it to get younger and worse.

Lee is a clear upgrade over Fournier and is a proven NBA player. Fournier might be a bust waiting to happen as he's not at all proven and could opt to stay in France for a few years (see Rubio, Fran Vasquez, and Jonas Valanciunas) Memphis does this to get more of a sure thing in Lee who's still young.

After taking a week to do our first deal, Houston and Memphis are on a roll and announce a second deal:

Le'Bryan Nash: 2013 = 1,156,320 and Darko 5,228,000 for Jason Thompson (5,250,000)

Works in range. Houston has a player being cut waiting on Sam to clear, will edit with that info when it is clear. Also, want to tell the player in person.

2 deals in a row, worthy of one of Houston's famous press conferences? I would think so. But anyway we give another rookie and unproven player (and late draft pick) for a proven NBA player. Thompson>Nash or at worst for me Thompson=Nash. What put this over the top for Memphis is the fact that we shed Milicic's awful deal. Thompson is young and will fit in nicely for our rebuild. Memphis has officially gotten rid of all their bad contracts.

Indeed.

Houston has booked the downtown Marriott for the formal press conference, and if rumors are to be belived, Darrel Morey is going to be dressed up in a Donald Trump wig and announce to a stunned Biedrins "Your fired". 10 Lucky STH's were invited to sit front row and eat/throw popcorn.

TRADE #292

Cleveland Cavaliers receive:
PF Kris Humphries ($8,400,000)

Houston Rockets receive:
2015 1st RND (Charlotte)
2015 1st RND (Miami)

Cavs accept. WE wanted a vet PF behind Drummond and Kris fits in perfect. He's on fire lately and is know to like stupid women with fat asses...so Cleveland makes a ton of sense! Cavs have cap room to sign him.

Houston accepts. Humphries just needed to go, but he is a great player and we wish him nothing but success. He never played a minute in Houston, but his arrival was the impetus behind the new GM getting his position, and so we will remember him fondly.

The picks are nice, particularly as we expect Lebron to opt out prior to the '15 season. Losing Humphries helps us save the cap space for him.

Also, we now have an 8.4 TPE to go with our 9.3 and 6.25 TPE's. Ideally we are looking for a 7.1 TPE to flesh out the collection.

#293 Charlotte and Sacramento

Charotte sends
$1,245,720 - Fab Melo
$0,854,389 - John Salmons
Charlotte's 2015 2nd

$2,100,109 - Total

Sacramento sends
$2,500,000 - Mickael Pietrus

Desperately needed a lockdown defender on my bench. Fab wasn't going to see many minutes anyway.
Dammit...:

I've got Nurkic fever now.

#294 - Indiana & Chicago

The Indiana Pacers have acquired the rights to Nikola Mirotic (23rd pick in the 2011 draft) from Chicago, for $2m cash.

The Pacers have been keen to add a shooting PF like Nikola. Whilst he needs to adapt to the NBA, and his defence needs a lot of work (KG will help...), Nikola has developed into a great shooting forward, averaging 12.5 points on impressive efficiencies (52/43/91) for Real Madrid. Indiana are reportedly sending their GM to Spain to finalise Mirotic's move across the Atlantic for the start of the 2012/13 season.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

Chicago accepts. We're still mad at team Spain for their "chinese eyes" picture, so anybody that plays in the Spanish league has to go. nice deal Luke.

295 Indiana and Milwaukee

Indiana send:

Luke Ridnour - $4,000,000

Milwaukee send:

Vince Carter - $3,090,000
Gary Neal - $854,389

Why for Indy? Needed a backup SG more, and cutting salary for 2013.

296 Indiana and Chicago

Part 1

Indiana send:

Vince Carter - $3,090,000

Chicago send:

Jason Kapono - $854,389
Ryan Gomes - $854,389
Keith Bogans - $854,389

Total = $2,563,167 - works easy within the 150% rule

Part 2

Terrence Williams ($854,389) to Chicago. Works as T-Will is a min.

Why for Indy? Didn't want Carter stuck as 3rd SG.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

Chicago accepts. We needed someone to start at SG, and Carter is (almost) a warm body.

PHI and NJN have a trade to announce.

PHI outgoing:
Carl Landry $5,000,000
Brandon Jennings $3,179,493
total: $8,179,493

NJN outgoing:
JaVale Mcgee $12,500,000

Needed a center, and we welcome back Mcgee for like the 4th time. He isn't that bright but he is an athletic freak that can block shots at a high rate and play help defense. His offense will come along. Good dealing.

Well the Grizzlies would like to announce the signings of Jeremy Lamb (pick 7), Perry Jones III (pick 12), and Mason Plumlee (pick 19). For salary information look up the contracts of picks 7,12, and 19 of the 2011 draft

New Jersey accept this deal. We like the upgrade at backup PF and feel like Jennings will be our starting PG with Stuckey offering flexibility at the PG and SG. Chalmers as a 3rd string PG does not suck. Downgrade at Center, but could not get warm and fuzzy over McGee - 3 great plays - 2 awful - net frustration. I like consistency that Frye and Mahinimi bring and hope to land a nice prospect.

Pistons and Nets have agreed upon a deal.

Nets send Kris Joseph to Detroit for nothing, works as he's a minimum.

Pistons Incoming
Nicolas Batum ($15,000,000)

Nets Incoming
OJ Mayo ($8,000,000)
Tiago Splitter ($3,944,000)

Total: $11,944,000.00 X 1.25 = $14,930,000 + 100,000 > $15,000,000

Deal Works.

Pistons accept. We think Joseph has the potential to become the next LeBron.
