During a guest appearance Tuesday on the Jeff Blair Show co-hosted by Stephen Brunt, Jon Paul Morosi of foxsports.com said there's another innings-eating arm on the market that might interest the Blue Jays.
"I would add one more name to the list, I do not have this confirmed, but I think this is someone to keep an eye on for Jays fans and that's John Lannan over there with the Washington Nationals," said Morosi. "Left-handed, someone that if Brett Cecil doesn't work out, is someone the Blue Jays may have some interest in. I think there are certainly some names out there."
In 33 starts with the Nationals in 2011, the 27-year-old Lannan posted a 3.70 ERA and 1.462 WHIP in 187.2 innings while averaging 5.2 strikeouts per nine innings. In 128 career starts (all with Washington) the former 11th round pick (2005) has a career ERA of 4.20 and a 1.423 WHIP.
He is scheduled to earn $5 million this season and is eligbile for free agency in 2014.
