I have a very strong feeling (if this is indeed correct) that Calderon would be the one traded (ufortunately)....I really feel as though Bayless is NOT the answer here at PG and if we do make some play like this, then the Raptors feel the same way about Bayless.

Maybe this is their last ditch effort to try and do right by Calderon (getting him to a contender) and to train Bayless at being a proper PG, all the while possibly drafting the PG of the future in up coming drafts

do you realize how much money nash would make the raptors if he signs with us? we're talking near sell outs every night, not to mention some US national tv exposure (albeit 1 or 2 games) and he will get so many canadian endorsement deals.

if we draft lamb and able to sign nash + chandler and re-sign barbosa (after amnestying jose), we would have a very nice, deep and talented roster. (and if we execute a S&T for chandler for ed or amir, we would shave off some of the cap space used)...

if we can sign nash we do it, i dont understand the hate for barbosa the guy is automatic and probably the best 6thman the raptors has ever had EVER.
nash and calderon can run pick and roll all year with val and bargs, calderon will also be on his final year of his contract. we draft a sf with our pick and call it a day.
if bryan can somehow pick kabongo for nash to mentor as our future pg we would be in a great situation.
add nash and val and (2012 pick ) and this team is a 5-8 seed.

Probably do a draft day deal to get a mid first rounder. So far all the PG prospects are there in the mock drafts.

Nash would be a great mentor for guys like Lillard and Marshall. Hell, I'm sure he'd even be able to work some magic with a guy like Wroten.

Ewwww! Don't want either next year! They make us better something i am not interested in! tank is by far the best route to go, it give us the best opportunity to draft a stud or two something this team obviously needs... 5-8 seed next year with no chance at winning it all? I'll pass!

EDIT; though Nash would be fun, but he'd hurt us the next couple years in terms of draft positioning.

In a player like Wroten's case I could see how Nash could be very helpful.

It's really tough in a short period of time to show a player a whole new facet of the game ie/ teaching Lillard to become a better passer as opposed to scorer. With Marshall, he's already a great passer too but not that athletically gifted...Wroten is also a truly unbelievable passer BUT sometimes plays out of control. Nash shows him how to play calm and with in himself; how to harness that; than man we definitely have a STEAL from the draft because I genuinely believe Wroten playing with more focus = a borderline all-star.

If our team is ever going to win it all, it needs to start somewhere. You don't just go from last place to first. There has to be some transition.

Great veteran, future hall-of-famers like Nash don't grow on trees. He is respected throughout the league, and would go a long way in establishing a benchmark for the type of hard work and professionalism that is required for someone to have a long and successful career in the league. Having him on the team could be huge for the development of guys like DeRozan, Valanciunas, Davis, and our 2012 pick. He could be a great mentor to a young PG prospect too.

But don't let that get in the way of your idea of multiple years of basement-dwelling.

I'm hot and cold on a Nash signing.

In many ways I would love to have the guy here.....especially to mentor a young guy, but:

- I would really like to move forwards with a good defensive PG
- How would Nash look in Casey's half court system?

I'm all for the Nash signing if it is in fact for two years. His impact on Bargnani, Valanciunas, and Demar cannot be understated, especially Val since he relies on the pick and roll so much at the moment. He can make us a respectable team and in two years is the PG heavy free agency.

It's a given we'll go after Chandler in the offseason and albeit Anthony Davis or Drummond being on the board we'll be drafting a wing. I'm excited for next year!

Maybe he can't find one?

With a lot of the young pG's still on rookie deals, most teams might be reluctant to trade their young PGs.

In 2 years, most of them will be on there second contract, so BC might have better lucking trading for a PG then.

You're right, and transition starts when we find someone whose worthy of building around..

I hear ya, but the big deal is that he's playing, and makes us better, if the organization cares so much about mentoring our young guys with HOF then they should bring them in as assistants coaches.

Signing Nash at this time is a backwards move from a basketball stand point! We'll be in the same position two years from now when Nash retires. Which is nowhere.

Yup, with two more drafts to find an even younger one. Not a bad plan.

Or that ... but I think the league is saturated with too many young PG's.

I honestly think that most people overrate what a mentor can do. The Suns have had Telfair, Dragic and Brooks play behind Nash. I'm sure he's helped them be more professional but its not like they are taking the league by storm or anything. At best there back up PGs still.

The only extensions note worthy are that of DD coming up next year. I'm not sure who they would be targetting in FA (didn't chandler sign with the nuggets?) but I'm guessing the idea would be to give Val/Bargnani/DD/2012 pick some taste of what winning basketball is like and even the playoffs. So that when Nash retires in 2 years, there is still time for those guys to commit as a solid unit with a PG. Most those guys would still be under 25 in 2 years.

PG - Nash, Bayless

SG - DeRozan, Barbosa,Forbes

SF - Chandler,Johnson,Klezia

PF - Bargnani,Davis

C - Johnson, Valancinas,Gray

plus a lottery pick would be very exciting and is somewhat possible.

GET IT DONE BC! That team would be enough to make it past the first round in my opinion. But it depends on how JV transitions into the "NBA game", also depends if we stay healthy next season (injury after injury this season :( ), and get consistency out of DD and AB next season
