If that's really it, this isn't news if it doesn't involve a guy like Marshall with a history. Hopefully there's no more to the story and the NFL wraps up its review quickly

I am wondering why the Dolphins ejected him like a hot potato though. If this was it, why would they trade him for so low of value?

Thanks for the info. Adam Schefter still hasn't provided any info. He trolled me masterfully tonight
.
Regarding the incident, I can't tell a 27 yr old to not go out to clubs with his wife. I can tell him to start hanging with his new city's unicorn, so that he can avoid trouble spots

Yeah I think Schefter just trolled everyone with that non-story.

He did me as well. I was legit "god f***ing damnit" for about a half hour. I think if there was anything more to this, we would have heard it sooner. I guess it is back to the theory that they ejected him for Manning

The “Beast” has lived up to his nickname, a woman alleges.
NFL star wide receiver Brandon Marshall — whose list of run-ins with the law is as long as a football field — allegedly slugged the woman at a Chelsea nightclub, The Post has learned.
Marshall was at Marquee early Sunday when he got into an argument with a group of friends celebrating a birthday, law-enforcement sources said.
Around 4 a.m., birthday girl Christin Myles, 24. left an upper floor to greet a friend downstairs.
When Myles tried to get back upstairs, a bouncer told her she had to wait because there was a fight between two football players — Marshall, 27, and an unknown athlete — who were being thrown out of the club, the sources said.
She later met up with her friends, who were arguing with the NFL bad boy and the other football player outside.

Re: Bears trade two 3rd rounders for Brandon Marshall
That story is a lot different than the version his attorney gave. That being said, he's the star, so he's the one that everyone will accuse of doing the punching because of potential lawsuits. I'm not saying that this version is incorrect, but it's typical of what happens to athletes with bad reputations.
Regarding the Bears. I have little doubt that Cutler, Lovie, & Emory were all aware of this before they pulled the trigger on this trade. He was still the BEST option of getting a franchise WR. Bowe was franchised, Colsten re-signed with the Saints, & V-Jax was overpaid. I think that everything will work itself out.

Re: Bears trade two 3rd rounders for Brandon Marshall
The problem I have is that the report says the Bears did not know about this.
I have a hard time believing that the Bears didn't know though; how could the Dolphins know and the Bear not?
I wonder what evidence there is, and why he wasn't arrested if he punched a woman? I have a feeling that one way or another this will be solved easily by looking at security tapes at the club (assuming they exist). Looking at those tapes will for sure one way or another unravel one of the stories here.
In my opinion, just based off of a guess, I think he did it.
Sources said the Bears weren’t aware of the incident.

Re: Bears trade two 3rd rounders for Brandon Marshall
I'm always skeptical of the NY Post
. That's why I ignored the portion about the Bears being unaware. I'm 99.9% sure that Cutler was informed by him before he stuck his neck out for this trade.
There's always two sides to a story with the truth being somewhere in the middle. To me, whether his wife was truly there will make up my mind regarding how I view the incident. If it was a situation where he was protecting his wife, I will overlook whatever happened after that. But, if his wife wasn't really there, it's plain dumb for him to be involved with an altercation with anybody (especially a female).
I do, however, believe that star athletes are targeted for money-motivated lawsuits just because their face was seen somewhere. He has to stay away from situations like that when he gets here. We all remember the Tank Johnson episode from several years ago.

Good point. I wonder if he was protecting his wife. I seriously doubt we will ever hear the truth, but I just hope whatever the league believes leads to no suspension.

Re: Bears trade two 3rd rounders for Brandon Marshall
Like I said, the wife being there is the key regarding my opinion of his wrongdoing. I would go bananas if someone hurt my wife or kids. I'm gonna swing on the person that harmed them (including a woman). Hopefully, it wasn't him swinging & it wasn't his wife that was harmed.
It's funny to me that this info drips out after he leaves the Dolphins......sounds like sour grapes to me.

I'm still wondering if the reason he was traded was precisely this.

He's actually been lobbying to play with Cutler again since the late part of the season. Myself & other posters have been begging for Marshall for months. If you scroll through the threads on page 1 & 2, you'll see the "obsession".
He began to criticize the QB play of Miami, while at the same time praising Cutler. He actually spent time talking about Cutler during his live interview after winning the Pro-Bowl MVP

CONSPIRACY THEORY:
The nightclub fight was all planned by Marshall, Cutler, & the Bears FO. Brandon Marshall wanted Jay Cutler and Jay Cutler wanted Brandon Marshall. The only way that they could make it happen, with the Bears giving up minor assets, was to figure a way to force Miami to trade him.
The McCaskey family hired some actors to fake a huge melee at a nightclub. Once the news made it's way to Dolphin headquarters, they picked up the phone & put this trade in motion with the Bears.
Today was the payoff. Brandon Marshall is now a Bear

But really, I have a feeling that the real story lies somewhere between he was completely innocent and uninvolved and getting into two fights while cold clocking a woman.

Man.....I tried
. Too damn sleepy to give it another shot. However, I do think that you pretty much got it right.
I'm hoping to wake up and read that Mario Williams signed overnight. Peace.

When a team is willing to just leave itself with "stars" at WR like Davone Bess, Brian Hartline, and Clyde Gates on their roster, it makes you wonder.
Turn down for what?

Re: Bears trade two 3rd rounders for Brandon Marshall
In a statement, Bears general manager Phil Emery said the team was aware of the alleged incident when it obtained Marshall from the Miami Dolphins.
"Both the Bears and Dolphins were aware of what occurred over the weekend. We decided to move forward with the trade. We have high expectations for Brandon as a Bear," Emery said.

I was really hoping that this Marshall trade would be the start of things, but more and more it's looking like this was our 'big splash'. Most rumors are just swirling around lesser names now.
2024: Maybe there's some hope?

Mario Williams has informed Buffalo that he wants to visit other teams.
