Yeh, this isn't really like he has 2 years left on his contract and "cancelled" his trade request (like JSmoov for example). Why WOULD he want to be traded now? He wanted to be traded early so he could have his year run with DWill or Kobe or Dirk or whatever. Now that we are almost at playoff time, at the deadline, we have his best shot of making a run right now (Nets pieces, including D-Will are all injured, Dallas is playing like trash, he prob doesn't really want to go to LA because of Shaq-comparisons and playing second fiddle to Kobe etc). If we DON'T trade him (as he now wants), any team he might go to in FA will have ALL of the assets they still want to have, gives them the ultimate flexibility as well to make other moves. It's a win-win for Dwight. Of COURSE he doesn't want to be traded NOW. The only real reason he would, would be for the extra guaranteed money, but we've all discussed at length how this really isn't that much of a deciding factor (would be easily made up by a bigger Adidas contract in NYC, more endorsements, hell....prob under-the-table Prok bribe $$$, next contract, etc).
Now he plays a card where if the Magic trade him, he can play the victim, if they don't he can leave and claim he was genuinely conflicted. This is all for himself. You think any of his teammates really believe he wants to actually be there with them, all-in? I doubt it. I was at the game, feet from the court, and the body language spoke VOLUMES....from warm-ups (almost nobody talked to Dwight....he was by himself dunking and shooting FTs for 10 seconds while the national anthem started, very disrespectful) to timeouts (towards end of huddle, ignoring Stan) to halftime, to after the game (not celebrating an amazing victory, head down into locker room)...
