Well Ellis is healthy unlike Bogut so maybe he can help them pass the Knicks.

And Udoh. All they lost is S-Jax. The Bucks just made a strong move on the Knicks, and coupled with already having the easier schedule are probably now the favorites for the 8th seed.

Sixerfan, any word on the sixers getting in on Kendrik Perkins?

Celtics are allegedly set to offer JO, Steimsm & the clippers 1st pick.

Noc, Lavoy & a 1 might do it. Okc wants to dump salary.

Would love it if our Sixers could pick up a guy like Kris Humphries. He's the ideal big body/banger that would come in handy if we were to have any chance in a 7 game series vs Miami or Chicago.

If OKC is giving up on him, would that be a good business decision? May be too much for a one dimensional center.

So Sixerfan, the Sixers aren't even looking at any bigs like Hickson or Thompson that could be had for cheap? Only guards? That trade exception is going to go to waste I assume?

Melo wants out, I honestly think we could do a Jrue, Lou, and Noc for him if we act quick. Anyone think I'm out of my mind for believing that? Imagine it if you will:

Turner
Iguodala
Melo
Brand
Hawes

Half court offense solved. I smell contender.

That would be the equivalent of NY selling Melo for pennies on the dollar.

havent heard anything about hickson or thompson.....if hawes stays healthy..which i know is a big if...would you seriously play either over Nik. Is either an upgrade? i guess getting one is insurance in case Hawes goes down again.

I don't know, would it really? Sixth man of the year candidate, promising young PG/SG, and nice expiring and maybe even a pick for an over-rated (but still valuable for us I think) chucker who's reputation is in the toilet right now. Or did you mean the other way around?

For a guy who fixes two of our 3 biggest holes and makes us a legit contender? I don't like the guy but if they are rushing a trade, and we can get away with that type of deal, you gotta do it.

i can tell you the sixers have no interest in anthony.....even if he is available. want to wipe out all chemistry this team has..getting him would do it.

Cool, let's just keep our interest in bench players so we can get no where. As much as I dislike Anthony, what alternative plan is there? We aren't winning with this team, we aren't one guy away, and we aren't getting Howard. Here's to a few more years of first round exits .

I understand your frustration and don't really disagree with your premise, but Anthony is not the answer. Yes, this team could use a scorer like him in the halfcourt set, but Denver is better off with him gone and those same rumblings are starting in NY. Meanwhile, NY waited for years to get in a position to rebuild with cap space and squandered it on Melo and Amare, and then overpaid for Chandler. So you are right in that Philly needs to try and find that scorer late in the 4th, but if you are going to go all out after one and pay him max. money while unloading assets, you damn well better pick the right one. I agree that Philly should be looking hard for that guy, but definitely do not believe that Melo is it.

This is completely about insurance, for both this year and next. This year, as it relates to Hawes and for some rebounding/post defense in case Brand gets dinged. Next year because Hawes is a FA, Brand could get amnistied and because I wouldn't exactly refer to L. Allen as a sure thing just yet. Guys like Thompson and Hickson can be had for a song and are young enough and athletic enough that they still have upside. At the same time, they have easy enough contracts that they could be jettisoned next season if they don't pan out or simply aren't worth keeping.

Well let's look at the teams Carmelo was on. One he played the majority of his time there with either Iverson, JR Smith, Kenyon Martin, Stoudemire and probably some other guys I am forgetting. Who was complaining about him When Billups got there and they went deep in the playoffs? Then look at the coaches, George Karl, who I like but isn't exactly the most demanding coach ever; and D'Antoni, who I don't think I even need to explain. You bring him here with two set-up guys, a tough demanding coach, and a team that needs half court and end-game scoring and I think you may get the most out of him. I agree that he isn't the perfect guy, but what other options do we have any time soon? Dwight, not coming. Deron, not coming and wouldn't help that much anyway. Not going to get any great picks. God am I going to regret wanting us to get Carmelo this bad when the frustration wears off.
