Good riddance

I'm done with the NBA period if Howard leaves or is traded. I have stated as much. Howard leaving Orlando to go to a big market just tells me the NBA is dead for small market teams and there is no real competition in this league so why even bother watching? They had a chance to make it like the NFL to where there was great parity or making it extremely hard for players to leave their respective teams, but they failed so in reality they failed their fans.

I'd be happy if we could trade JRich for Beasley and somehow get rid of Duhon too

Wouldn't like to lose Q though, he brings some toughness, defense & he's a fantastic team mate. Duhon's a great team mate too, but you know .. He really sucks

MagicFan41 wrote:LOL. You've admired how he has handled it? You might be the only person on the Earth who has (including the Magic FO, his teammates, his coaches, the media, the fanbase...). This whole idea of his trade request was supposed to be private is so dumb. You don't think the second that the Magic started calling teams asking what they would give up for Dwight, that it wouldn't start to become painfully obvious? Or that he wouldn't block the same teams that he is blocking us from trading now by not committing to them? It would've all ended up in the exact same scenario. Also, if I were Dwight, I would do what's best for me, but also be honest with my organization to the fullest. If I wanted to go to NJ, I would tell them straight up. "I'm sorry guys, it's been an amazing run, thank you so much for everything, but I'm going to go sign in Brooklyn in the summer. 100%. No ifs ands or buts about it. It's just something I have to do for me. No hard feelings I hope?" Also, if I already had that amount of money and was going to basically get a crapload more even if I stayed here (and I was supposedly so religious where I agreed with somebody's twitter quote from the Bible about a rich man being hard to get into the kingdom of Heaven - which Dwight did)....then, no, that wouldn't factor into my decision whatsoever. There does come a point of diminishing marginal utility in the world of economics. Again, if he wants to go to NJ, that's his right, nobody is denying that. Just man up and say that's exactly what you want. Don't leave your organization that basically built you from the ground up high and dry simply because you want to get wined and dined by a few teams this summer. That's petty and selfish.

Thing is we assume so much when we think we know what Dwight has or has not said to management. "If I were Dwight, I would," blah blah blah. What if Dwight did exactly what we would do? In my eyes, the direct quotes that I have seen from Dwight, the interviews that I've seen, the way he's been playing and acting on the court, that's what I admire. If I bought in to all the media and fan speculation and hype on the situation, then yea, he'd be deplorable. I'm not. And I think that's where a lot of people are going wrong. And I get caught up in it all sometimes too, and think negatively of him. But when that clears, I take a step back and look at the facts and exclude the rumors, and Dwight's been fine. Given he requested a trade, that I wish was different. What I have seen from Dwight after that has been fine.

Trading Dwight does not change anything, except it would bring the misery sucking half a year earlier than necessary. Unless you can detail how trading him works to our favor and helps up build a contender.

Granted no situation is exactly the same, but the question I have is this-

Would we rather be Cleveland or Denver? Cleveland was awful and started bottom up, Denver got players that could keep them afloat for a little while and get them to the playoffs. I'd rather be Cleveland, personally.

One of a few differences in the situation is that Melo isn't THAT good, Denver is just as good or better without him. So when Dwight goes we'll probably fall harder, but it will also be harder to keep this team in the playoff hunt with any possible trade. For me, that makes the decision easier... being stuck in the 7-11 seed area is not where I want to be. So unless its very good players or draft picks, the decision is pretty easy imo.

And while I don't love the idea of tanking, I'd rather try to win this season and tank next season instead of start sucking right now.

@eyriq: Hey bro, thanks again for making the thread. I was stuck in lab this morning and couldn't get the wireless working on campus. Hopefully this is the FINAL one until the off-season.

i do not think we have an option of even being denver. also cleveland has kyrie, a future super-star and a better prospect than anybody that denver has. denver ain't winning a championship with galo as their center piece.
