I think there's some logic to these arguments that we won't be getting pieces that will somehow save our championship hopes for the next five years. Whether it's tomorrow or in July, our championship window closes the second he walks out the door.

That's why I'm much more interested in getting young prospects, acquiring draft picks, and clearing cap space than I am in getting a star in return. Our entire system revolves around a dominant center. If Dwight leaves, we have to blow that up.

Speak for yourself, My sig says roll the dice, if they roll the dice and he leaves why would I curse them?

Why not just Melo for Turk+Richardson?

If we get multiple picks in a trade and a young player that is how. Stop listening to Kyler and his Memo and whoever deal with NJ. I assure you they're better offers out there.

Steve Kyler ‏ @stevekylerNBA
RT @CGarlits8791: why don't the Magic just try to get the cap to sign Deron in the offseason? ---> trying to dump Duhon & Q Rich on Minney

NJ's best offer wasn't even that good... and now they won't give us crap for Howard if LA is not in the mix to get Howard. We should play out the season and enjoy it. Whether we trade him or he leaves, we will still suck for a long time.

why? you guys are not getting the exact reasoning. I believe there is very little difference when it comes to contending in the next 6 seasons if we trade dwight or let him walk, so we might as well keep him and do not waste the current season.

It was harder than I thought, what with all these roman numerals and post counts! Double check I did it right, if you would, I'd hate to screw up your legacy ;)

I like this team. Make minor changes. Go for Broke. Dwight and the Magic want a shot at the playoffs with this team. ROLL THE DICE!

I am so excited Dwight is staying. Now, lets talk about the game of basketball and not video game like dream trades!

I don't think the Knicks fire Dantoni.
I don't think Howard is realistic (for NYK)

============================================================================

I think I'm over Dwight... but I'm also over another idea.

Yesterday I was so worked up trying to convince Magic to trade Howard... I still think you shouldn't take a chance on him, so he bolts during the summer and we get nothing back in return for him.

Then it occurred to me... it's probably better he walks away.

Of course our franchise will be embarrassed and look like complete morons for letting the most dominant center in the NBA leave for nothing (AGAIN, Shaq)... but if we're going to rebuild, we might as well have Dwight leave and have that salary come off the books in order to clear cap. The end of next season a lot of contracts will have expired or will become an expiring contract (trade chip). We'll also have a better draft pick.

Either way, keeping Dwight to finish off the season (so he can leave this summer to a non-depleted Nets team that will still have Lopez and Brooks) or trading Dwight to a rental team (F the Nets, we should look to get the best package in return for Dwight)... it doesn't matter to me now. As a fan, this situation is numbing.... BUT it's nothing new... I've been here before with Shaq leaving, Penny traded, Grant Hill's ankle injury, T-Mac traded, and finally here and now with Dwight's situation.

We'll be fine guys. Keep your heads up. No doom and gloom.
