Looks like we may miss the boat on the Nets deal. Seems we wanted Morrow in the deal and they said no. Not real happy if that is what happened.

Re: Trade Deadline Thread
I don't mind Cho asking for Morrow in return (why not?), but if we don't get a decent draft pick just because Cho wanted Morrow and was denied than it wasn't a very smart move by him. The Nets want more cap flexibility, but not at the tune of giving up Farmar (averaging 10 a game as a backup) and Morrow (averaging close to 13 and a deadly 3 point shooter). Hopefully Cho will revisit the scenario tomorrow and take what the Nets are willing to give. Either way both Petro, and Farmars contracts expire at the end of next season.

I personally love that we finally have someone capable of asking for MORE. I like the Farmar/Petro/1st deal as is, but you have to love the fact Cho is actively pursuing better talent be added to the deal in local product Morrow. Lets just be patient. Lets be honest, most of this depends on several different things, the first being Howard. If the Nets trade for Howard, then they may need Farmar or Morrow in the trade. The other factor may be Cho waiting to see what Houston did. Right now they are 8th (I believe) in the West. That could change depending on who they may trade for as they are active. Why not give it another day to see if something happens, then go back to the trade. It's not like the Nets are going to take Farmar/Petro/1st off the table. Only way that happens is if one of those assets is involved in another trade which would likely only be for Howard.
Take your time, feel things out, get the most you can. If we can't get more for Diaw, I'm confident we will see this trade go down at the last minute Thursday. Would love to add Morrow to it though. I would be perfectly content with Farmar + Morrow and no pick. I wonder if that has been discussed or if that is a possibility?

Re: Trade Deadline Thread
I doubt the Nets give up Morrow period. They probably see how Orlando has spaced the floor so well with its shooters with Howard on the floor over the years, and salivate at the thought of Morrow being on the floor with him draining those threes.

I dont mind Cho asking for Morrow either, but not at the expense of losing out on the deal. If we are bluffing to get more, and would take the original deal, then he's a tough river boat gambler. But if that bluff gets called and we lose out on the deal, it sucks. To get rid of Diaw and get that mid round 1st would be great for the Bobcats.

That articled doesn't say the trade talks are dead. It just says NJ refused to give up Morrow. When we traded Gerald Portland refused to give up Batum, but a trade still happened. Nine million in expiring salary is still got to look mouth watering to the team that is a lock for a Dwight Howard visit this summer.

Re: Trade Deadline Thread
I'm very impress at the FO for being able to leverage so much with a washed up Diaw. I was expecting a buyout or letting him go for nothing as the end of season. But for the FO to take advantage of NJ desperation, that's a very smart move.
Nets' are trying to get CJ Miles expiring with petro and morrow(assume Jazz has TPE)... think Jazz would go for that?

Yes, I am sure the Jazz would love to have a great young shooter like Morrow.

Re: Trade Deadline Thread
Why would the Nets trade Morrow for that deal when Miles is only like $3.7 mil expiring when Diaw is $9 mi expiringl? The deal would not include the Houston 1st I dont think either. But still, why send off Morrow in that deal but not in the Diaw deal? Am I missing something?

The trade would include Morrow and Petro. I assume the Jazz had TPE from the Deron trade.

CJ Miles carries value for them. He would be a guy they could bring back. So essentially there saying that okay, Morrow is the better player but only slightly. So, we will split the different between Morrow and Miles with you guys taking one of our bad contracts. Personally, I think CJ Miles is probably worth more than them having to take back Petro and I don't think the Jazz would do it for that very reason.
Diaw carries just a money value. They most likely won't be looking to retain Diaw as a source of talent for next years team.

RT @brianj321: any rumors on the CHA front? I assume Diaw/Augustin are gone, right? <-- seems that way, Diaw to NJ, DJ to Portland latest
Steve Kyler is normally on his stuff. I wonder if DJ to Portland is still based on Crawford? I would have to assume not at this point...right?

Jazz trying to unload Raja Bell and CJ Miles, a good friend of D-Will. Heard Nets could be doing something involving Petro + No. 1 pick

Surprised to see Jazz trying to "unload" CJ Miles who averages almost 10 a game in limited minutes and is a valuable bench commodity on an expiring deal. I wonder what number 1 pick they're talking about here....the Nets or Houston's?

Re: Trade Deadline Thread
Would undoubtedly be Houstons. Nets would never give up their first rounder unless they have to in a trade to get Howard.

Re: Trade Deadline Thread
If we trade Augustin to Portland for I would like a draft pick in return somewhere, and not just for Crawford. Yes we would save money since Crawford would decline his option next year and save us a little over 5 million, but I was always under the assumption that Augustin was worth atleast a decent mid first rounder.

Could we trade Petro and Farmer for the 1st and Diaw
Then trade our 3.5 mil TPE for Morrow . If Morrow is a deal breaker as is . Or does our tpe even help them.

Well you don't trade TPE's.
New Jersey/New York would receive a TPE for Morrow's salary but that doesn't help them acquire Howard unless it's through a trade. Might help them acquire another piece ONCE they have Howard though but that piece would have to be better than Morrow for the deal to make any sense.

They corrected the talks with NJ and Utah. Those did NOT include Morrow in the deal.
