Give me Lowry, Parsons, Patterson, KMart and picks for Dwight and Duhon and I'll be content.

Yeah, I mean, do they really take the risk of us trading him elsewhere and him liking it?

Or something else, anything else, happening that would cost them Dwight?

He isn't doing us a favor by saying that. He's wanted to be traded up until last night. God some of you are dense and in denial.

Again I'll buy you all beer if we win the title this year and you can quote me on that.

professional sports with guaranteed contracts are probably only exception where contracts mean less than they should when it comes to performance. not much you can do when a player tanks, you are still gonna pay him as long as he attends practices and such.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏ @WojYahooNBA
Stan Van Gundy did something w/ Dwight few coaches ever do with superstars now: In public/private, he challenged him. He dared to coach him.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏ @WojYahooNBA
Dwight Howard doesn't see it, but will later: Van Gundy was the best thing to happen to his career. And, hey, Dwight was great for Stan too.

I hope we don't trade Q actually. He's not a bad bench guy and he seems to be one of the few folks that gives 100% night in and night out. Even when he's out of the rotation he's cheering things on.

Trading Dwight does not change anything, except it would bring the misery sucking half a year earlier than necessary. Unless you can detail how trading him works to our favor and helps up build a contender.

We could get Brooke Lopez and over pay him lol.. Yea exciting

people need to chill on the lopez hate. i saw him dominate dallas this year. he is a better offensive center than dwight and him and anderson are good buds. if brooks and nj 1st comes with lopez we have to make that trade.

You can flip it both ways. Sure, if we trade him, he comes out looking better than he would have. However, if we keep him for the season, he won't be the good guy at all... he will be looked at as worse than LeBron/Shaq/Melo combined if he leaves after saying he wants to stay the season and for us to "roll the dice." If he's as self conscious of his image as everybody makes him out to be, then that would be disastrous. Would he really put himself in that position if he knew for sure he was bolting to NJ?

Berger thinks that ORL will keep D12 past the deadline.. thinks they can play this out possibly get a better deal in the summer.

He's not as bad as some people make him out to be, but he's not all that good either, imo....

His complete lack of D and Rebounds is kind of disturbing.

He's 7ft, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen the entire starting 5 outrebound him.

Dwight, OTOH, sometimes outrebounds our entire starting five combined.

You have to trade him. Any true fan of the team should realize that letting him walk for nothing out of some notion of "hope" that he will stay is bad business.

If he walks for nothing, the franchise will be set back several years. We have to get something back from him, whether it be salary dumps or picks. Dwight's looking out for his best business interests and so should we. If we are ORLANDO MAGIC fans and not Dwight Howard fans, then we should support the best decision for the team. And that means getting some value.

The Magic will still be here when Dwight leaves (and he will leave) but I'd prefer the rebuilding process to come sooner rather than limping along for 5 years.

We let him walk, we have 20 million or so coming off the books, with Hedo, BBD, and Duhon still under contract at about 20 million per season and a low first rounder next year.

If we ship out Dwight for Okur, Humphries, Bogans, and two picks, we now have Dwight off the books, plus Okur's $9mil expiring, Hump's expiring, Bogans' expiring, and we are no longer saddled with Hedo and Duhon. Plus we have draft picks.

This second scenario is infinitely more desirable than just letting Dwight walk for nothing IMO.

Love that. SVG is who he is and doesn't apologize for it. Overall, he's done a great job here. Stan deserves to stay here after riding this out.

I agree with the JRich deal .. But on the other hand, every deal where Duhon goes out is a trade you've won

A better deal for Dwight?

I wish Boston would pony up and offer Rondo/KG for Dwight.

I don't see that happening, the way it is. He either goes to NJ or Dallas, both teams can sign him straight up. Why exactly would the offers get better?

============================================================================

I think I'm over Dwight... but I'm also over another idea.

Yesterday I was so worked up trying to convince Magic to trade Howard... I still think you shouldn't take a chance on him, so he bolts during the summer and we get nothing back in return for him.

Then it occurred to me... it's probably better he walks away.

Of course our franchise will be embarrassed and look like complete morons for letting the most dominant center in the NBA leave for nothing (AGAIN, Shaq)... but if we're going to rebuild, we might as well have Dwight leave and have that salary come off the books in order to clear cap. The end of next season a lot of contracts will have expired or will become an expiring contract (trade chip). We'll also have a better draft pick.

Either way, keeping Dwight to finish off the season (so he can leave this summer to a non-depleted Nets team that will still have Lopez and Brooks) or trading Dwight to a rental team (F the Nets, we should look to get the best package in return for Dwight)... it doesn't matter to me now. As a fan, this situation is numbing.... BUT it's nothing new... I've been here before with Shaq leaving, Penny traded, Grant Hill's ankle injury, T-Mac traded, and finally here and now with Dwight's situation.

We'll be fine guys. Keep your heads up. No doom and gloom.

+1 well said DJ

8-) yeah that's right.
