I would think if we could pursue tampering we would have done it already. We probably can not do it anymore, waited too long.

I said from the very beginning of the season that once the Magic pulled back on pursuing it, it was because that was a piece of their leverage over NJ. Whether it be to not upset them (so they remained a potential trade partner), or a threat that we use to get them to up their trade offer, or a way to actually try to keep Dwight in the summer if he tries to bolt....it didn't make sense to use it in the beginning. It would only hurt us, and if NJ was off the table, then LA/Dallas would lessen their offers (less real competition). I doubt there is some statute of limitations (at least not only a few months) to pursue the charges. That would be stupid by the NBA if so, because it would do exactly what I said, kill all our leverage, when we should be the ones getting reparations for the tampering.

I do not know, but I do see Stern coming down hard on something like this. In Stern's mind this is his NBA, he wasn't too happy how lockout negotiations went, and not too happy at all the power and leverage players and agents seem to be gaining. If this goes down, and NJ is found guilty, then I see fire and brimstone from Stern levied on Jersey

Luckily I've been so gobsmacked with work I haven't been able to pay much attention to this drama, but:

If it comes down to it, I'll be amazed if NJ tries to play hardball with the Magic in a Howard trade. It's not like Lopez, Brooks and picks is a great package--those guys are not difference makers. NJ knows this. They're not gonna let those two get in the way of locking in Howard.

My buddy works for the Magic. He said Dwight WILL be traded if he doesn't opt in or sign the extension come 3pm. Expect a trade in the next 24 hours.

this is already on espn and has been out for a while. anyway it looks like the Magic are so pissed at the Nets that they wont trade Dwight there for anything. But then again noone else will want to rent Dwight for half the season unless they get him with a lowball offer

This Thread has become a "Lets give up on this current team and blow it up now via trade".

They have worked too hard this season to become a top 5 team to just give up now and become a .500 Nuggets team.

Stop equating this with the Nuggets. When fully healthy the Nuggets after Melo have been one of the top records in the league. That's a fact.

1. The Nuggets got decent stuff for Melo.
2. Melo isn't nearly as good as Dwight.
3. Having a top record doesn't really help if you have no future and will, if anything, get worse.

So really Denver was in a better position than the Magic, and I'd still rather be the Cavs than them.

But like everyone else, I don't really have any idea what trade might happen. I feel like we've gone over the same ground for thread after thread and I know I've repeated myself ad nauseum, but I guess we really can't know. New Jersey seems like the only option but they'd have to give up a lot for me to consider it a positive move toward the future instead of just throwing away the season.
