Melo has also made the playoffs every year of his career, IIRC...

not saying it counts for much tho.

I'd take Melo but with the perhaps idealistic idea that Collins is a better coach than D'antoni and that for the first time in his life Melo would be motivated to prove the haters wrong..

but then again dude is a ball stopper, who is out of shape due to the lockout stuff, who plays little to no defense...

It would depend on what we give up for him.

Luckily it's a non issue since that move is too risky for this FO who loves to play it safe.

Hell no to Melo. Our team is completely built on chemistry and ball movement. If you're building a team around Melo, you have 1-2 other all-stars and the remaining players should be defending specialists. He is a terrible fit for this team. Don't want him, and that's after living in Denver and watching his entire 7 years there. To put it nicely, he's not a championship caliber player. Scorer, yes. Everything else, no.

And what im saying is many players have won national championships and not won anything in the NBA. corey brewer won two. even marreese speights won a national championship as a backup PF. Howd he do as our backup PF? Tyler Hansbrough was the best player on a national championship team. I just dont see how college success means anything to the NBA because its a completely different game.

And no personal attack against you bud, theres just very few things Im passionate about when it comes to other teams in the NBA besides the Sixers, but putting Carmelo Anthony on our team is one of them because I just dont feel he is a winner or a team player that makes a team better by joining them.

How do you figure he is a terrible fit for this team? He fits 2 of our biggest needs and has an allstar possible DPOY playing next to him with two creators. Plus a coach that has the balls to yank him for not moving the ball.

Again the guy has won a championship as the best player on his team, so to dismiss him as someone who can't win a championship is silly. Will he need to change a bit? Sure, but he can do that under Collins I think.

No I understand all that, but he won as the best player on his team. You cannot dismiss him like that when he has done it already. You would consider Rose a guy who can win a ring, did he ever win anything? I just don't get that logic.

Players rarely ever change in this league. I've yet to see a selfish NBA player become unselfish and completely change his style of play to fit a team-oriented style. From the looks of it, all Melo can do is score. To play on Collins' team, you need to be able to do so much more.

Zach Randolph, kobe, A.i. to a lesser degree (after the geiger no trade). there are a good number of players

I think I might throw Paul Pierce in there as well as Rasheed Wallace.

yep there are a good number. It wasn't long ago that I wouldn't call Jamal Crawford anything besides crawful. Hell there is an argument that you could put Akeem on there.

BTW this rumor is over WOJ claims D'antoni just resigned

This is all a moot point from a different perspective. One, if NY was going to trade Melo, I would imagine that they would prefer to trade him somewhere else other than back inside the division just in case he does flourish outside of NY. Second, does anyone think that Melo would have no comment and just accept a trade to Philly after trying so hard to get to NY? I would be that he wants to dictate where he goes like every other pampered star and Philly would most likely demand assurances that he was on board before agreeing to a deal for him.

I sure hope that isn't true. I was hoping NY would keep D'Antoni around forever. I never really viewed NY as much of a threat so long as he was the HC.

yep. NY with a competent Coach and possibly Dwight in the division. It will be much tougher to take the Atlantic next year.

A.I. never changed, Kobe never changed, it's just covered up since he's won titles. To this day there are still reports of him calling out teammates and being reluctant to pass. Highest usage rate in the league. Kobe would be in the same class as A.I. and people would hate him just as much if it weren't for his star-studded supporting cast. I guess winning solves everything. As for Zach, Portland was a hell-hole at the time and it was unique to not have some sort of character issues there. Regardless if any of these players can make a case, it is still more often than not that a selfish player remains selfish.

Edit: And LOL at Rasheed Wallace ever changing. Same attitude, just grayer. Pierce was caught up in trouble, but I don't think he was ever considered as selfish as Carmelo currently is.

And they call him a cancer. Karl got better when Melo left. You connect the dots.

Lol I was thining the same thing.

Q: George, when are you making a return to the sidelines?
A: Not until Carmelo is traded. I'd rather be terminally ill.
