Per @cbruey of Orlando's WFTV Channel 9, Dwight has informed Magic mgmt he won't use his ETO to become a free agent in July.

Is Dunlap trustworthy?

He is kinda like Alex kennedy int he fact he re posts tweets though he stated he is checking for other sources

Ok... so, I can't get excited just yet! it's hard not to though!

I don't buy it that he's opting in. But if he did, it would be hilarious on the Nets, because Deron would 100% walk home to Dallas.

But like I said, I don't buy that he's opting in. So personally, I think we should deal him to Houston for a package centered around guys like Lowry, Martin, Lee, Patterson, Dragic, Scola etc. OR to the Nets for Lopez + MarShon Brooks + Humphries (expiring) + both their 2012 picks + one or 2 2013 picks
Rob Hennigan is smarter than you.

One of the guys being a potential All-Star center? Naaaaaw, that doesn't factor in at all.

Potential All-Star center, whose main role will be keeping Steph Curry company in the training room maybe.

Depends somewhat on who opts out of their contracts, but likely ones include Monta, JSmith, Iggy, KMart, Bynum. CP3 if he decides to get out of LA (doubt it), and Deron if he for some reason opts in this year (almost impossibly unlikely).

We could sign Josh Smith and Monta Ellis. Forgot about Chris Paul.

Not 100%, he could opt-in himself. didn't he consider it earlier this year?

Source: Dwight Howard to stay with Magic through 2012-13 season

ORLANDO, Fla. — A source with the Orlando Magic told WFTV's Christian Bruey that Dwight Howard plans to stay with the team through the 2012-13 season.

Howard has the option to opt out of the final year of his contract and become a free agent this summer.

Howard told the team of his plans during a meeting in San Antonio on Wednesday afternoon. The source, who was in the meeting, said Howard will opt in for the final year of his contract so long as the Magic do not trade him.

How would that be possible? We can't trade for them or sign them outright.

Actually the Magic could have a ton of money for the summer of 2013. Redick and Nelson come off the books. Hedo only has one year left, meaning he could easily be traded for a pick or expiring. The only sticking points are Davis, Richardson, QRich and Duhon. I think the Magic will try and move Richardson now. Try and move Davis later. QRich and Duhon will have one more year left with manageable contracts so they could both be moved easily. That would leave us Anderson, Howard and around 35 million in cap space to use.

Ellis, Paul, Smith, etc will be FAs in 2013. Hell Williams may also be a FA by then too if he opts in.
