Rank Top 25 Players - Who's #2?

Post#1 » by NyCeEvO » Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:28 pm

OK, so LBJ won the best player title pretty handily (even though there were a few naysayers who won't disclose why they voted for Rose or Durant).

Now, from here on out I expect the debate to flame on for a while.

**I'm allowing you guys to change your mind, just in case, some of the debates that ensue make you change your initial pick**

I voted Howard and last night was the example of why.

He's a game changer on defence and a beast down low for teams to handle. He's the only real threat the magic have against the 3 superstar heat and Howard has taken them down twice. He is the 2nd best player in the NBA in my eyes

I can't wait for E to eat some crow when he realizes what a good passer he's become out of the post.

I saw that last night, i havent seen many games with Howard this season and I was watching him throw no look passes to wide open players all night. He was looking at one shooter and throwing it to another dude wide open. I was really surprised to be honest

For me, it's Wade. IMO, the only player in the league that can still put up his production while playing next to LeBron. One of the most clutch players in the league, always steps up in the playoffs, and a great defender at his position. Obviously he's no Dwight on defense, but he's a lot better offensively, and I trust him more in the playoffs.

After a slow start, he's at 23/5/4 on 57% TS. And if people noticed against the Magic, when the Heat needed offense late, LeBron stood in the corner, and Wade handled the ball and made the play (and made the 3 that sent the game to OT).

I went with D.Rose.. Best PG in the league in my opinion even though I know a lot of people on this board prefer CP3. Can score, pass, plays D, has crazy handles, and very fast. If I had to build a team he'd be the PG i would take.

I'm interested in seeing how you rationalize Rose over Wade. What does rose do better than Wade. Serious question.

I went with Dwight.

To me Rose is the All NBA Hype pick.

Really, really good player, great player, just not the caliber people are making him out to be yet and I don't know if ever.

Deron is better then Rose. CP3 is certainly better then Rose.

Wade is a truly great player, I just don't think he has the impact on games that Howard does.

I like Durant over Wade right now to be honest.

How are we expanding the choices? For example, what if I truly believed Dirk was the 2nd best player in the league?

Shouldn't we vote on new nominees as well?

By the time we get to the 10th player in a top 25 using your idea we'd have to change our top 5 because Irving is clearly the best player in NBA along with Anthony Davis lol

But i agree you should include basically every possible player realistically, for instance 15 players per pick so even left field choices can be included

I went with Dwight. Taking into account age, position...add that with being the games best rebounder and defender. Getting better offensively, could be so much more.

Actually it came down to Rose and Wade for me for this spot. I'm going to go with Wade at #3. They're numbers this year are very similar. Both score about 23 per game. Rose is better from 3. He's also a better passer, even though he should be because he's a PG. D.Rose wins with Boozer and Deng while Wade wins with Lebron and Bosh. Plus Rose led his team to to the best record in the league last year. I could understand taking Wade over Rose though, they're both amazing players.

I will always add at least one new entry for every rank. In this case, it was CP3.

As we go down further, I will probably max out the entries at 9 players and put an other category for all other players.

Wade is the MUCH better defender, more efficient scorer and is a great passer himself. Rose is winning because he plays in elite defensive team. You plug Wade in there instead of Rose and that team is even scarier.

Wade > Rose and it shouldn't even be debated.

But I'd take Durant for my pick.

Rose shouldn't even be a choice to be honest.

I went for Durant again.... Hey I picked him first so I gotta pick him second right? I'm not complaining about LBJ being 1..... Nor will I whinge about who comes 2nd ... I just really rate Durant right now.

I gotta go with Durant as well.

The guy is averaging 28/8/3.4 w/ 1.4spg. He's carrying the Thunder and he's not benefiting from having the best player on his team.

He's shooting 50% from the field and has been putting the team on his back. No one thought that he could catch LBJ for PPG at the start of the season. Then he goes and gets game-winners, has a 50pt game, and now he's back up in scoring and currently sits as #2 for PPG as the #1 option.

Switched to Dwight, can't really see Durant's case over him.
