no, the difference is that the Lakers opted to use their massive TPE to the advantage of the team. we've had a couple before, but we always let them expire.

granted, this is a risk free move for LA, considering Beas is a FA at the season's end.

the team that really volunteered to bend over for some prison lovin was Portland. they don't get cap space, they get an inferior player, and they just helped 2 conference rival teams. the move makes zero sense in my eyes.

but... maybe this is the sign they're throwing up the white flag. maybe we can get Wallace on the cheap???

No offense guys but Beasley is a known headcase and has low value. Has nothing to do with this being the Lakers. This is the same guy that was first traded for 2 2nd rounders.

I'm just wondering if the Tampering accusation is playing any role in this. I also think waiting all the way to the last second has put a HUUUUGE strain on Dwight's likability. It was a very good strategy by the Magic's management team. Still I'm not counting any chickens just yet.

I agree, although I would have still traded JRich for him.

Kind of a head scratching trade for the Lakers IMO. They already have a lot of forwards. They needed another good guard or PG. They just traded their best PG/perimeter shooter for a inconsistent scorer who doesn't play defense.

Beas to lakers= parity....

Glad for the maybe true maybe bs news. Never understood why Dwight didn't see that in a year or two he could have whatever team he wanted. His commitment also really helps. Hope it's true. I will forgive him btw. The gb is funny with the prokorov threads

Would you guys still trade for Josh Smith if it meant trading Ryan and taking back Joe Johnson?

Why would the Wolves send Beasly when they could easily end up playing them in the first round in the playoffs?!?!?

Knowing that Dwight opts-in, no.

We have much better options in 2013.

Sign the papers Dwight! What a turnaround from yesterday. We may have just dodged the biggest bullet in franchise history. I hope Dwight is "all in" for next season as well.

Been away for half the day. Too much to catch up on, can anyone tell me what the heck is going on?
Has Dwight really signed the paper? anything else?

Yes, that's essentially the Atlanta Hawks plus Dwight. It's a gamble because of JJ potentially declining rapidly but that's still a good team.
